Republicans Reject Their Mandate - Laying the groundwork for Democratic victory in 2016
American Spectator ^ | December 8, 2014 | Jed Babbin

Mary Landrieu’s defeat in Louisiana on Saturday should have put paid to Obama’s statism. But it didn’t because Republicans evidently have dedicated themselves to throwing away the mandate to end Obamaism that voters gave them in November. Some used to call the Republicans the “stupid party,” but what is going on now goes much farther than mere stupidity can account for.

How else can you view the responses to Obama’s unconstitutional — and hence, illegal — immigration amnesty declaration? The problem extends far beyond that, but the immigration amnesty is the most apt example because it is the most current.

Last Wednesday, House Rules Committee Chairman Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) — certainly not to be confused with anti-amnesty stalwart Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) — made a startling statement. Pete Sessions said that Republican leaders intend to push an amnesty bill through in January that would subject only the most dangerous illegal alien criminals to deportation.

Let me say that again: the Republican leaders of the House want to endorse Obama’s action by passing a law to embrace it and call it their own.

[Snip]

Mr. Speaker. You have taken impeachment off the table, and — with Senate about-to-be Majority Leader Mitch McConnell — you’ve also taken another government shutdown off the table. But if you won’t impeach Obama — and though he absolutely deserves it, there is a legitimate argument based entirely on race to not do it — the only constitutional power you have left is to stop funding of objectionable programs.

What are you guys afraid of?

Maybe the sun will rise in the west tomorrow morning too. I think there is a better chance of that happening than your second paragraph.

Funny, the exact guy I think is dulling the moment ends up being the first picture I see related to the article. Boehner.

“Sustain Obamacare so it can be transitioned to single payer under the next Democrat administration. Companies want out of the obligation of providing health care to employees.”

You are spot on there. The trick is to convince all us backward-idiot-inbred- knuckle-dragging Tea-Party types that Republicans mean to appeal the thing when it’s election time and then hope no one notices that only “symbolic” attempts are made to change anything afterwards.

Hey, let’s vote to repeal Obamacare again!

No matter how hard they try, the Republicans couldn’t do a better job of laying the groundwork for a Democrat to succeed Obama.

More like they have been promised "their turn" in the White House as long as they don't step on K Street's agenda. The fix is in.

The Republicans are more afraid of the Press than the American People.
The MSM's can, and will, trash the Republicans every day.
The People have a say only once every two years.
GOP-e are more interested in looking good than doing good.

What’s wrong with that Sad Sack?!
In almost every photograph I see of Boehner, he looks ready to break down into tears.
Except when he’s posing with our Queen.
And the GOP just re-elected him? It’s starting to look like old Lucy Vanpelt holding the football for us again.

I believe you have nailed it. Good ol’ Jeb Bush will fix everything. Won’t it be nice to have a conservative in the White House? /s

I also think that Hillary Clinton knows she is just a prop for this next bit of Kabuki stage-craft and will never be president. This explains some of her bizarre public statements and lack-luster performance as a candidate so far.

The GOP is largely beholden to the corporate lobbyists. Huge, huge money has been flowing into their coffers from them.

Amnesty, H1B Visas, Obamacare are not going anywhere. Regulations will be changed to favor large corporations, not the individual citizen small business owner.

Um, shouldn’t that really be the “Washington Generals” theory?

You should reconsider voting in the primaries is what the GOPe fears the most from conservatives.

I think Rush talked about this in '94, the GOP has to learn how to win and how to act once you won. Boehner's a battered wife, even when he wins, he loses.

Last chance for the GOP...Let's say in the Spring, Palin announces a Third Party. What would happen to the GOP?

They're not afraid except having their voters know what they really stand for. However, I readily concede more than a few fear blackmail as they are compromised and they know it.

So, they live in their comfortable little bubbles in their little wealthy and back-scratching fiefdoms in a land where all they have to do is confiscate other people's money and dole it out for their own pleasure and good. It's called "Washington, D.C." and it has become a pox on this land and has become the very system our Founding Fathers feared and fought against.

These people aren't Americans. They're Washingtonians. Why do we expect the them to act like Americans?

I don’t believe they are afraid of anything. I believe the pubbie elite are socialist one worlders at heart. They just lie to us about what they believe. Perhaps in this case they will begin with the criminals then branch out. But I won’t hold my breath.
