Republicans set to relaunch Obamacare attack in new year

Republicans are ramping up for a fresh fight against Obamacare in the new year, banking on Democratic support to repeal a key component of the law.

Republicans have slowed their anti-Obamacare drumbeat in recent months, with their success in the midterm elections, President Obama’s executive action on immigration, government funding and end-of-year business dominating the GOP agenda.

But come early 2015, Republicans will restart their push to repeal the 2.3 percent tax on medical devices that kicked in last year as part of the Affordable Care Act. And with the GOP controlling both chambers of Congress in January — and with several Democrats also calling for an end to the tax — Republicans believe such a move can be a meaningful first step in dismantling Obamacare.

The [Republican] agenda for next year will likely have low-hanging fruit — the low-hanging bipartisan issues that Republicans can begin to rack up successes in both House and Senate. And one of the first pieces will be the Medical Device Repeal Act,” said Ron Bonjean, a Republican strategist.

Well, I’m not sure what that means.

Is Governor Perry a RINO?

They don’t mind things the way they are. They like them just fine.

Well FRiend, I will stay optimistic until I am shown to be the fool.

We have both Houses now and a very unpopular President.

I believe the Ted Cruzs and the Tim Scotts of the GOP will play a big role in 2015.

Despite the MSM's efforts, conservative legislation can get passed, and if Obozo tries a veto, the very 'rats who ran away from Obozo to keep their office may very well go with the 'pubs and override him.

Just my hope for America's future, we shall see.

There are no RINOs. There are only liberal republicans.

Yes, Perry is a liberal. His support for a spanish company owning the Trans-Texas corridor, and his support for teenage girls (my daughters at the time) getting vaccinated for STDs is a sign. So was his support for the liberal Dewhurst, who lost both the Senate race, and race for Governor.

Perry is also very weak on amnesty and the border.

Leadership, in charge, not the conservatives who would do something if they could.

Until the leadership changes, none of this will happen. I have a strong desire for it to change but I’m keepign expectations extremely low. With good reason of past performance, and given what low levels the rino/gop-e leadership has sunk to fighting conservatives.

If Perry had run for governor again, I would have worked to help politically destroy him so he couldn't win that office. Just like I helped with Dewhurst.

So your contention is that TEXAS is run by a liberal governor.

I would hope you have someone else in mind for TEXAS?

Abbott works. He's to be sworn in next year.

He is conservative.

And Governors in Texas don't actually run much. They can't even pardon anyone without getting permission first.

The GOP owns political power from the shores of Galveston, across Key West to the lighthouses of Ocracoke.

It seems to sadden you and they haven’t moved furniture yet.

The difference is that in Texas, mostly, the GOP are actually conservative. Not liberal.

The GOP has had the House of Representatives for years now, and all I've heard are excuses. They could have shut down Obamacare but they didn't have the will.

I would pardon you.

Not in Texas you wouldn't. For one thing, it takes permission for the governor to do that. For another, it would require me to need a pardon. You fail on both counts.

After a bill becomes law I’m not real certain how it goes away.

Certainly you can defund it but that snares many programs that we get hosed for as well.

The Supreme Court can kill it. They do respond to the court of public opinion.

If anybody can sentence a ham sandwich to death, it is the Supreme Court of the United States. (SCOTUS for you in Rio-Linda)

It's pretty easy.

Any current legislature can cancel any previous legislation.

The CRs and omnibus need to go away and budget bills need to be done again.

The current speaker of the House in Texas is a liberal republican that only gets elected to speaker with the help of liberal democrats.

I'm working to try to keep him from being elected speaker. But I mean to see that liberal bastard fired completely in 2016. It took 6 years to get rid of Dewhurst, but Straus can go the same way.

He's the last major liberal republican in Texas government.

So the current house and the current senate needs to send a bill to hussein. In turn he will sign it and pretend it never happened.

Sounds good to me.
