City principals received a new nine-year, $743 million contract in a deal Mayor de Blasio and union officials announced Saturday.
The mayor called the agreement a long overdue achievement and praised principals for working without a contract since 2010.
That was wrong, that was unacceptable, and that ends now, he said. Given the hard work you do, you will get fair pay, you will get what you deserve and at the same time we will protect the citys long term fiscal health.

It’s only taxpayer money. What does this idiot “de Blasio” care? He and Obama are kindred spirits.
It wouldn’t bother me to see NYC go bankrupt if I didn’t know who would get robbed to bail them out. NYC should join the EU, it would be a perfect match.
It is going down the Hudson...fast.
It can drown in the Hudson for all I care.

Or Detroit.
Anyway, for producing such well-educated students, these "underpaid" principals deserve a raise based on that fact alone.
Thankfully these brave souls somehow squeaked by without a raise for four WHOLE years.
That certainly doesn't happen anywhere else.
I mean look at that principal who wore a fur coat and drove to school in a new Mercedes.
Funny thing is that she rarely even set foot in the school.
What are the principals supposed to do?
Drive to school in a 4 year old Mercedes?
Only some kind of monster would subject such paragons of virtue to such horrors.
