Does “generally” include the 50% of rape claims that are false?
What really matters is the seriousness of the charge. /s
Our feelings will tell us what is right.
“the story of Jackie, who was gang raped”
Shouldn’t that be “claimed to be gang raped” or somwthing similar.
Fixed it.
Did the Compost believe Juanita Broaddrick?
About 30 years ago, I knew two guys who spent time (months) in jail awaiting trial on a rape charge the “victim” later recanted. I have trouble believing those are the only guys that has ever happened to. Falsely accusing guys of rape makes it harder to believe the real cases.
The ‘rapist’???
Hell, I don’t even think that “Jackie” exists.
Yes, there is a presumption of guilt in the constitution. That's why we don't need trials.
It's the accusation, not the truth, that is the important thing here.
By "very publicly" hiring a civil litigation attorney to sue for damages almost immediately as a response to the accusation, they could make a very pronounced point.
“No matter what “Jackie” said, we should generally believe rape claims.”
Because 2 breasts and a vagina = everything that comes out of your mouth is the truth?
>> “It’s the accusation, not the truth, that is the important thing here.” <<
.
Going into ‘Rush’ mode:
“Its the seriousness of the charge that trumps the preponderance of the evidence; we must indict!”
Yes, because everyone knows men are dogs. Women are morally superior to them, and any accusation a woman makes against an evil man should be taken as gospel. Besides, even if they didn’t commit the rapes, the fact of their maleness makes them guilty of something. /S
I have also handled a great many criminal cases--in my general civil & criminal trial practice--and have also enjoyed the confidence of a great many people--and the unfortunate conclusion is that most actual rape cases are never reported to the police, while a very significant percentage of those that are reported are bogus--based on aspects of the "women scorned" syndrome.
I know this is not a happy situation, but it reflects psychological realities, not wishful thinking. Many women are afraid for a great variety of reasons, to report a rape; whereas the anger at unreciprocated love can be a powerful incentive to take the plunge that an actual victim will not.
Keep the meme alive!
They sure as hell did NOT believe Juanita Broaddrick!!!
An often-repeated, idiotic assertion.
Assume for a moment the truth of claims that over 90% of rapes are never reported, because the victim is too ashamed to come forward or for whatever reason.
So if ten women are raped, only one reports it.
Now assume one woman makes a false rape report, to get revenge against some man for something.
This gives us eleven women, and a whole lot of unreported real rapes. But it also gives us a 50% false rape reporting rate.
Even if the real-world ratio is less than 50%, it is a whole lot higher than "exceedingly rare" and feminists know it.
And one is even led to think, given their rhetoric, that they want to preserve the viability of the false rape report as a political tool by denying its existence.
The fact that this woman was willing to run to Rolling Stone was a red flag to begin with, IMO. This morning on Fox, Tucker Carlson said he knew the whole thing was an absurd fabrication by the time he made it to the article’s third paragraph.
These days, when it comes to accusations which involve a member of the left’s cherished victim groups being wronged in a way which is particularly political——women being gang-raped by wealthy white males, blacks being harassed with nooses, etc.-—I consider them all hoaxes until proven otherwise.
I’m waiting for the president of UVA to show her face and make a public apology. She was quick to jump on the bandwagon condemning the fraternity members. Right now, though, she seems to be hiding.
I saw that so-called president of the University of Virginia this morning on “Good Morning America.”
She made no apology, just spouting the usual liberal talking points of women being victimized, etc. She looks like a Rosie O’Donell type, if you get my drift.
Then they showed these stricken-looking college girls, who looked so devastated that they lost an opportunity to bash men. It was pathetic.
I hope the frat boys sue the crap out of Rolling Stone magazine, the University of Virginia and this Jackie broad, whoever she is.
