Is Obamacare Destroying the Democratic Party?
New York Times ^ | December 2, 2014 | Thomas B. Edsall

Posted on 12/03/2014 11:15:03 PM PST by grundle

Charles Schumer, the third-ranking Democrat in the Senate, has forced a debate over fundamental party priorities out into the open. Should Democrats focus primarily on the problems of the poor or should they first address the economic struggles of the working and middle classes?

It’s not often that a politician provokes conflict within the ranks of his party’s core supporters. Schumer did just that in a National Press Club speech on Nov. 25, three weeks after devastating Democratic losses in Senate, House, gubernatorial and state legislative elections.

According to Schumer, President Obama and his party suffered defeat last month in large part because of the strategic decision to press for enactment of the Affordable Care Act soon after Obama won the presidency. In 2009, with Democrats in full control of Congress and the White House, Schumer said,

"Democrats blew the opportunity the American people gave them. We took their mandate and put all of our focus on the wrong problem – health care reform. The plight of uninsured Americans and the hardships caused by unfair insurance company practices certainly needed to be addressed. But it wasn’t the change we were hired to make; Americans were crying out for an end to the recession, for better wages and more jobs; not for changes in their health care. This makes sense considering that 85 percent of all Americans got their health care from either the government – Medicare or Medicaid – or their employer. And if health care costs were going up, it didn’t really affect them."

How many white Democrats are there in the South?

Obama is exactly like the Democratic Party. He views the middle class as white and disposable. We are collateral damage in the pursuit of racial justice.

When my eyes first caught the title I immediately thought no worries for the Democrats. The Republican party will always keep them alive. Both parties are too dumb to die.

I’m sorry, their angst is about as deep as a parking lot puddle. Their “regrets” are all for the cameras and purely BS! To prove it, put a bill before the senate that repeals zero-care and see if they vote for it. If they do and when zero vetoes it, see if they still support it when it comes around for an override. News flash, they won’t!

The half breed needs no political party. Step one in becoming emperor for life is his legislation by executive order. Destroying the two wings of the Democan Party is step two. Step three will be dissolving the Congress.

So fell the Roman republic; so too does the American republic.

Is your flag upside down yet? If not, why? If not, when?

Thing is, if the Democrat Party goes down, they’ll just become Republicans and dilute the party even further.

A $10K deductible is like having catastrophic health insurance. For a premium that is significantly higher than catastrophic insurance would have had before ObamaCare.

How many white Democrats are there in the South?

About as many as are employed by various governments or receiving benefits.

Schumer and Hillary are probably closer than Schumer and Obuma. His little campaign is likely for her benefit and his also. I’m sure he’d rather have a DC position than stay in the senate forever. He’s 64....That’s when people get restless....and go through the “Now what do I do”.

But you get a free annual checkup and birth control <<

Yup! ...and if something is discovered that needs further care or consultation, you will be issued a huge bottle of asprin and given an appointment date 3 years from the anniversary date of your “free checkup”

Schumer is masking himself so the Republicans can be more comfortable working across the aisle.

The worst part of Obamacare is the mainstreaming of deductibles. This was done on purpose to screw the middle class so that they only use healthcare services for emergencies, and not care. This frees up time and services in the healthcare industry and saves money for insurers. All to give free healthcare and health insurance to the Obama crowd.

I have had blue cross with my employer for 20 years. Only in the past couple of years have I had to deal with deductibles. Prior to that it was a monthly premium taken out of my check, and a co pay at the doctor if anyone was sick. Now with a $5000 deduct, I still pay my monthly premium but basically can’t use my insurance unless its an emergency.

Obozo talks about the costs of healthcare spending going down. No kidding. Because no one can use their insurance now due to deductibles.

The treasure trove of "The Midterm Democrat Demolition Derby" (and down-ticket state wins) has yet to be fully- mined, but this we know:

<><> 9 states ousted Democrat Senators AK AL AR CO IA MT NC SD WV

<><> As LA's Landrieu's loss looms, Southern Democrats control not a single governorship, US senator or legislative chamber.

<><> Democrat losses stretch from the Carolinas westward to Texas

<><> Of the 140 Southern States election districts---110 went Republican.

<><> the GOP's majority in the House will be so big and solid NBC's Chuck Todd says Democrats can't recapture losses until 2022.

<><> Some pundits say Republicans have a 100-year majority;

<><> When the next Senate convenes, 29 lock-stepping Democrats who voted for Obamacare will be gone.

<><> Even Arkansas and Illinois (Clinton hometowns) have Repub governors---important in a prez race since guvs control party machinery.

Could be he is looking down the road and seeing the train crash that is coming and he is inoculating him self as much as possible. Or he believes the Supreme Court will effectively doom it. Either way it has come to view it as a loser politically.....more dems will be joining him!!
