ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE (Reuters) - Pope Francis said on Sunday that equating Islam with violence was wrong and called on Muslim leaders to issue a global condemnation of terrorism to help dispel the stereotype.

Francis, the leader of 1.2 billion Roman Catholics, told reporters aboard his plane returning from a visit to Turkey that he understood why Muslims were offended by many in the West who automatically equated their religion with terrorism.

Francis' predecessor, Benedict XVI, caused storms of protest throughout the Islamic world in 2006, when he made a speech that suggested to many Muslims that he believed Islam espoused violence. ...

he understood why Muslims were offended by many in the West who automatically equated their religion with terrorism.

And in that same way of thinking, there's nothing wrong with lumping terrorism with fundamentalism: "I sincerely believe that you cannot say that all Muslims are terrorists just as you cannot say that all Christians are fundamentalists; every religion has these little groups," the pope said.

“To do so makes one an enemy of Christ.”

Word up to all who believe whoever sits
in the Vatican is the vicar (representative)
of Christ.

He’s an sinful, fallen man just like the
rest of us.

Calvinism point #1: all are depraved.

Don’t believe your lying’ eyes…and don’t tell this tripe to the families of those who have been beheaded on tape.

Why do we try to excuse this obvious vicious death cult?

Yes, the problem with peace at any price is that there’s NEVER any peace, and the price is always too high.

Some followers find themselves for the time being decent enough not to follow the worst of it. But this is never a guarantee with any follower.

The Cardinals chose him.

Same as the voters in the US chose BO.

People want this.

That’s the problem.

Even Bush said Islam is a religion of peace.

Talk to some typical New Yorkers - surrendering to this is what they choose.

They’ll fight tooth and nail to get LGBT into the St Pats Parade and the Cardinal is a great champion of this, while saying the pro lifers can’t march.

But they won’t fight against this, nor will the Cardinal champion it.

We just lost Thanksgiving to the Chamber of Commerce. It’s no longer a family and friends holiday, it is a materialism Day. No store should be open on a federal holiday.

The Pope is a leader like Boehner is, like McConnell is, Like Pelosi is, like BO, or all the people in this country who are supposed to stand up to destructiveness.

But they’re not doing it, nor is the Pope.

The priests can’t tell people not to go up on the altar at sunday mass wearing shorts and sneakers, like I saw today, but I’m told to shut up if I say anything about it.

Badness has taken over. Ugliness, materialism.

why would we want to put a good pope in place to tell us how to behave, and what to expect from ourselves and others.

That’s Winston Churchill Stuff. JPII, and Reagan, the hated.

I can’t fight it.

Let them see how bad it gets.

but until priests start coming out and saying birth control is the parent of all of this crap, including abortion, nothings going to get better. If they can’t get it right, no one can.

We can’t kill babies at tens of millions per year, every year, and come out morally ahead of islam, and it won’t be fixed until people demand it.

They need either education or a shock.

If 911 did nothing but cower the New Yorkers, then what...?

One example among many: Pope Pius VIII forcefully condemned religious indifferentism in the encyclical Traditi humilati nostrae:

“And this is the lethal system of religious indifferentism, which is repudiated by the light of natural reason itself. In this light we are warned that, among many religions which disagree with one another, when one is true, anther must necessarily be false, and we are further admonished that there can be no association with light and darkness. Against these repeaters of ancient errors, the people must be assured, Venerable Brethren, that the profession of the Catholic Faith is alone the true one, since the Apostle tells us that there is one Lord and one baptism. As Jerome says, the man who eats the Lamb outside of this house is profane, and the man who is not in the ark of Noah is going to perish in the deluge. Neither is there any other name apart form the Name of Jesus give to men by which we must be saved. He who believes will be saved, and he who shall not have believed will be condemned.”[9] Can anyone even imagine Pope Francis speaking like this? (by ebb tide)

Remember Pope Benedict XVI lecture at Regensburg and his strong criticism of Islam.

Pope Francis is the doctrinal nemesis of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI

Where are Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, and Pope John Paul II when we need them?

Do you think that any of those three denounced all Muslims?

None of them called Islam a religion of peace.

What the Pope is saying is what all world leaders and our congress critters are saying — Islam is a ROP.

Nothing new here.
