California pushes to expand immigrant health care
Monterey Herald ^ | 11/30/14 | Judy Lin

President Barack Obama's executive order to spare some immigrants from deportation has galvanized Democrats, immigration groups and health care advocates in California to push for expanding health coverage.

Advocates say the president's executive order enables hundreds of thousands of low-income immigrants in California to apply for Medi-Cal, California's version of Medicaid.

One thing to do: Pray that God will change the minds of the leadership of this state, to steer it away from certain destruction.

“The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.” Prov. 21:1.

I think a conservative lawyer would take the case, because if they won the lawsuit, it would eliminate benefits for illegal aliens.

I am by temperament and by choice a principled optimist. By that I don’t mean that I am highly principled (though I’d like to think that) but more that the world is driven mostly forward by a relatively small number of powerful core principles. I think of men like Ronald Reagan and Jack Kemp, and I want to emulate them.

Democrats are defined by the photo negative of this, and this is nowhere more evident than in the President’s EO on immigration. It is a patchwork of negativity. It will cause chaos right out of the chute, hurting most everyone but especially those that it intends to help.

Where I may differ from others who traffic on FR is that I think this chaos is unlikely to bring down the country. I am not complacent about our freedoms, but I do think that we have a resiliency and a core, shared sense of values that sets us apart as Americans. President Obama’s EO is so breathtakingly stupid that it seems far more likely to me that chaos will bring down the EO itself, and with it the Democratic Party.

Republicans must fight this EO, of course, but we must also develop plans to pick up the pieces when it goes awry, as it will sooner rather than later.

Africa is overflowing with productive people but its logical they don’t produce anything:

After the tin pot dictator has shown up at your business in a truck full of soldiers to cart off all your goods enough times cuz you’re in The Bad Tribe, being impoverished provides full protection.

Poverty becomes a RATIONAL CHOICE:

THAT is where this is leading.

I agree with you on that point. However, how many of these items that cause chaos can we survive? Immigration EO, Obamacare, horrible foreign policy, etc. If enough of these things run concurrently, it will bring us down.

For example, here is a question that Republicans should be asking:

“MR. PRESIDENT, WITH THIS EO, ARE YOU OFFERING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO COME OUT OF THE SHADOWS AND MAKE THEMSELVES LEGIT, OR ARE YOU SETTING THIS AS AN EXPECTATION?”

Republicans should make clear that it needs to be the latter. It should not be OK for those who have come to this country illegally to compound their malfeasance by eschewing the opportunity to make a correction. It should not be OK for these individuals to come out of the shadows selectively. If only those who have the most to gain (benefits from the public trough >> taxes paid) come out of the shadows, while those who prefer can stay in the shadows (b/c taxes >> benefits), then on top of everything else we have a fiscal disaster.

I could go on, but the point is that we should be saying that the EO must involve a call for all those who are in this country illegally to come forward and declare themselves.

Then let’s just see what happens!!!!!

The Covered California ads in Spanish on TV are charming.

A government that advertises welfare. Unbelievable.

Here is what I have learned as a life long Californian. White people are supposed allow themselves to be subjugated to every other race and ALL politicians of COLOR are in office for the sole purpose of elevating THEIR RACE over the Constitution, America and their oath to defend them. I am saddened to see all across America, politicians seem to believe that race trumps country, unless of course you happen to be White and/or Conservative.

As a native and 4th generation Californian I am
sickened by all of this. However, do you notice
the difference between the article heading and
the information within? The headline states “California”
while the article says it is Democrats, immigration groups,
and others pushing this crap. Does that make a difference
to hard core California haters? Probably not but it does
to millions of out voted Republicans like me. Regardless
of what the AP and other commie news sources tell you
we are not all a bunch of libtards here.

Dear Everyone...this is the guy pushing this - Ricard Lara:

If he sorta looks like a thug, that's cuz he is.

And his bill expressly addresses immigration status, which we have been told over and over by so-called Judges and Rat party scum is not allowed.

And of course, in Senor Lara's case, the only people he wants to see subsidized are "his" people...being a racist ethnicist.

And the Rats want you to know....this guy is an American!

Right. And I'm the King of Spain.

Close, but no Cigar.

A single Judge ruled it unconstitutional on a flimsy basis, The State REFUSED to Appeal the Decision. The Group that sponsored the initiative was DENIED STANDING to continue the case.

See Kamala Harris attempting to gain Standing in the Perata case( I think that’s the one)She was DENIED Standing also and is trying to have an EnBanc Hearing on the matter, if she Prevails it will OPEN THE DOOR to APPEAL PROP 187.

Yeah, right. Think hope many arrogant, border jumping beggars could get health care on Steven Spielbergs dime.

Explain why they do this. Why did someone come into my hospital room when I was fatigued after giving birth and try to sign me up for women and children benefits, really hard sell. I said I’m not qualified, and they kept saying “just sign up anyway!”

It most certainly does violate the equal protection clause of the Constitution. Illegal immigration itself is a violation of that clause.

“...as long as they don’t expect the rest of the US to pay for it.”

Make me laugh. We in California are already paying for YOU. We pay more federal income tax than any other state. We’re already supporting at least ten failed states. The vast majority on our generous welfare rolls are American transplants from other states — like yours.

If the foreigners that have overwhelmed our state need medical care, they’re going to get it at our bankrupt emergency rooms. We need to find a way to treat foreigners besides the ER, or they’re all going to close.

And by the way? The entire United States SHOULD be paying for this, not California alone. You gave up our state to annexation and colonization. It’s the least you could do.

“Why are people in California so hell-bent on destroying the state?”

We’re not hell-bent on anything. We’ve been all but annexed and colonized by a foreign country. The United States won’t help us. What on earth do you expect us to? Field our own army?

Those of us with homes and families and businesses here in California are just trying to adjust to living alongside the foreign population you’ve decided to replace us with.

My question should have been why are the democrats in California so hellbent on destroying the state?

I lived in Thousand Oaks from ‘85 to ‘87. The legacy of Reagan was still strong. I remember one of my last acts before leaving the state was to get rid of Rose Bird and her cohorts.
