Some interesting data on the 'state' of, the State of Illinois ... There are more people on welfare in Illinois than there are people working. Chicago pays the highest wages to teachers than anywhere else in the U.S. . Their average pay is $110,000/year. Their pensions average 80-90% of their income. Wow, are Illinois and Chicago great or what? Be sure to read till the end. I've never heard it explained better. Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago ?
Body count: In the last six months, 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago .. 221 killed in Iraq ; AND Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in the entire US.

He was replaced by Rob Blagojevich who is, by the way, also in prison. stem rated one of the worst in the country. And Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned, .. and, that's right, he and his wife are both in prison.

As long as they keep providing entitlements to the population of Chicago, nothing is going to change, except the state will go bankrupt before the country does.

Yes, the Democrats have legislative majorities in Illinois. but at the present time:
Illinois has one Republican in the US Senate (Kirk);
The incoming US House delegation will include 8 Republicans as opposed to 10 Democrats;
There are currently two Republicans holding statewide office (Treasurer and Comptroller);
In January, there will be two Republicans holding statewide office (Governor and Comptroller).

Republicans are pushing Chicago to greater and greater gun freedom.
Republicans have considerable control of Detroit right now from the state level and are driving major changes in that city too.
Some people just prefer their whipping boys to success.
For instance, suppose the state of Buckafornia has 30 counties. For an instate election, give each county one electoral vote to cast for Governor. 10 blue counties have a majority vote for the Governor, and 20 red counties have a majority vote. Red wins, hence, a Republican Governor.
Then, suppose Buckafornia has 30 Electoral College votes for the national election. Instead of awarding all 30 votes based on majority vote (called cheating in blue counties), the State will award 20 electoral votes to the Republican candidate, and 10 electoral votes to the Democrat candidate.
If enough states did this, the Democrat party would be finished.
