Escalation 101: USA To Deploy 150 Tanks Near Russian Border
MINA ^ | November 26, 2014

The US Army plans to deploy about 150 tanks and armoured vehicles to NATO countries next year and some of the heavy armour may be stationed in Eastern Europe, a top American general said on Tuesday.

The move is part of a US effort dubbed Operaton Atlantic Resolve in the Baltic states and Poland to reassure allies anxious about a 'resurgent Russia', with American troops deploying for several months at a time to conduct joint exercises.

Nearly 50 armoured vehicles are already in place and another 100 M1 Abrams tanks and Bradley fighting vehicles will be "pre-positioned" in Germany and possibly elsewhere for the US troops conducting drills with NATO partners, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges said in a phone interview from Estonia.

I remember the Cold War do you? I remember we won it, do you? Or did the country that dominated us, had the huge gains, to which we showed weakness win the war? The USSR lost, in a big way, they lost the entire empire. The USA won, not NATO.

The USA that won that war, that dominated the USSR and forced it into submission, no longer exist. What we have now is a weak Russia and a vacuous USA.

Weird, why don’t you tell us about this Russian Army and Air Force that has the capability to conduct an invasion of Europe and fight a major war against the most powerful nations on earth?

Also tell us which country has the military that is superior to the American military that you claim.

No it won't end well.

Russia's modernization of it's tactical nukes is very troubling. Their new subs also cannot be detected.

Russia is positioning itself to fight and win a nuclear war. This line of thinking is very dangerous. With obama in the white hut, their thinking is not that far off.

obama would never retaliate is russia used a couple of tatical weapons. Putin knows it.

Attack in what manner? As you said Putin does not have military strength. The threat is already there and it is not being dealt with. Seems you like submission so long as it is small doses to non-Nato countries. Will you accept it if Putin nibbles off part of Finland? They are not NATO.

Tell me When NATO actually moves to prevent a Russian move that is likely to happen. Attack Munich, really?

You are welcome to read my pasts posts about what the russian air force has been up to.

If we get into it with russia, it will not stay conventional and putin would not lose a second’s sleep over a few American cites turned into ash heaps.

As far as the most powerful military...China.

Carriers deployed ? The morons running this country sent the Ronald Reagan right into the nuclear fallout cloud from Fukushima. Some of those sailors are dieing now.

And since you don’t have the manners to answer my question, we have one lone carrier deployed. Why? No money to operate them.

As a guy who claims to hold military secrets that you dare not reveal, you sure don’t seem to have any useful information on this great Russian Army or it’s Air Force domination of Europe’s skies, and now after mocking the idea that America has the world’s strongest military, you won’t tell us why Russia does, or who else does.

What is the list of the militaries that are stronger than the United States military?

To quote you “”you spout your nonsense about how we have the most powerful military on the plant. Well, I hate to tell you this skippy, we don’t.””

Not going to get into a pissing contest with you skippy.

You don’t know squat about our military or any others.

Do you personally know anyone who is serving or has served in the past?

You think the Russian Navy is superior to the American Navy?

You think that if Russia invades NATO that Russia will dominate the seas?

Do you personally know anyone who is serving or has served in the past?

Well I served under Nixon and Reagan, my brothers served, my son served, my stepbrother served, stepfather, and my father, ex father in law, and masses of uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, brother in laws and I prefer military and veterans as friends, so I know a few, sure.

"Russia is expanding by invading sovereign countries and the west should respond to this."

No doubt about that. And the response needs to be very firm, clear and of military basis.

But I would think the US and NATO could do that without violating the agreement.

If the post-1999 countries need equipment and/or training, we should provide as much as they can absorb. We should also fortify the pre-1999 countries with US Men and Assets.

Some rumblings in the press about the potential reactivation of a modern Pershing II, Nuked Waverider...even MX and "Rods from God" would also be helpful.

But with Obama in the White House we get a single US tank Battalion stationed someplace like Latvia...with no back-up.

FACT: Military spending by the U.S. is way down. Our military is the smallest it's been since before WWII and obama will make it even smaller.

FACT: Russian spending is way up as they modernize their weapons systems and develop new ones which are extremely hard to defeat.

You think it's a great idea for the US to put 150 tanks near the russian border. I think it's a horrible idea based on the facts.

If we had a president who respected our military and loved the country I'd think different.
