Just 30 percent of Americans with H.I.V. have the virus in check, putting others at risk of infection, health officials said Tuesday. A report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that 840,000 of the 1.2 million people infected with H.I.V. in 2011 were not consistently taking drugs that suppress the virus. Of that number, 66 percent had been given an H.I.V. diagnosis but were not getting regular care; 20 percent did not know they were infected; 10 percent were prescribed antiretroviral medicines but were still not able to get the virus under control; and 4 percent were under physician care but were not prescribed antiretroviral medicines.

mentally ill people are not usually very safety conscious
One of my friends has it. He’s still having sex with men (he used to be straight).
Good for them. They don't need to take medicine, they just need to take care of themselves and avoid things that compromise their immune system.

HMM, it’s like HIV has a correlation with risky behavior, or something.
Yet they are considering changing the rules and allowing homosexual men to donate blood. SMH
I tend to agree with you.
“Study Finds Most With H.I.V. Dont Take Medicine”
Study finds that most think that is a self-correcting problem.

Can’t HIV adapt to the drugs?
Yeah, that really gets to me. You are no longer safe to get a transfusion from a stranger.
Looks like that free love thing isn’t free after all.
Finding a “cure” or a “vaccine” for this disease only gives them more time to infect others.

And thereby infect others with which they have sex.

I had to have surgery during the time the blood supply was not safe due to homos with HIV giving blood. The surgeon said unless I bled so much I was going to die, he would not give me plasma or whole blood. After the surgery, he said it would take me longer to get over the surgery as I did bleed more than he wanted and he would not transfuse me.
A while ago, I read an article that said homos would get the disease on purpose so they wouldn’t have to worry about getting it. They would rather manage the disease instead of trying to avoid it.
These are very expensive drugs with a fairly strict regimen, although not as strict as it used to be. That requires a funding source and a sense of self-discipline. Not everyone who wants to, can, and not everyone who can, wants to. And even the most nominally successful treatments still have a 4% risk of communicability. The sad fact is that the people who have the most at stake in taking this thing seriously, aren’t.
I have a question that’s off topic here ..... if you get a blood transfusion from someone who has herpes will you get herpes too?
HIV is a huge problem facing America’s inner city black population and we ignore it. The virus is breeding in prisons and then is introduced into the heterosexual population - big time.
