NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) – Protesters angry about the grand jury decision in Ferguson, Missouri first shut down an entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel during the evening rush Tuesday, then shut down both sides of the Franklin D. Roosevelt East River Drive. The FDR was shut down in both directions at East 6th Street as of shortly before 9 p.m. the protesters marched, police said.

Protesters tried to go over the Williamsburg Bridge, but police would not allow them to do so, according to witnesses. Some shoving between protesters and police was also observed. Protesters did later begin walking over the Manhattan Bridge.

A protester on the East Side of Manhattan was also seen lighting an American flag on fire.

I live out in the country and don’t have to worry about this crap.

Me too, I live in the country, where all the nuts are in the trees.

Hey Mikey, if they start rioting, and violence, arson fires, or looting breaks out, ping me.

Otherwise, no need.

It all starts with our free handouts system. When people are not required to put in a serious effort to acquire skills and hold down a job, people basically get bored and then get into troubling behavior.

In March of this year I spent 2 weeks in my favorite city, Singapore. There are no food stamps, no unemployment benefits, actually zero welfare for able bodied adults of working age. Result is almost non-existent crime, and no lack of jobs! Actually Singapore has 40% more jobs than there are citizens. So they issue 2 year work visa and import foreign workers.

Greece is not much bigger in population to Singapore. Yet it has been a disaster for many years. Main difference I see is generous government handouts in Greece.

I’m serious. Synths have a value. Synths can make someone money, provide entertainment and result in beauty in the world. Hipsters can’t and don’t. Have a read through www.diehipster.com and tell me what value these bags of skin have to anyone including themselves. Ruined by their parents, complete sense of entitlement, almost exclusively liberal and pro abortion.

Free Stuff.....even for KIDS...is a big disincentive...to do anything for ..other “stuff”.

these are not people who are what anyone could conceivably call mature adults....thus they go for the freebies far more readily than the average slacker

Yes, I am familiar with the site and love it, it’s hilarious. Wasn’t being facetious at all, I love synth music, 80s or otherwise. Big fan of everything from New Order to Kraftwerk (OK maybe not everything, I’ll pass on the Yanni). ;)

I pretty much worship at the altar of Gary Numan and John Foxx (the early stuff, not so much anything recent) synthwise. Early Depeche and Human League too. I appreciate Kraftwerk for the innovators they are, but am not a huge fan of the music. I don’t dislike it, don’t get me wrong. Some awesome stuff they did. It’s just not what I reach for for ‘recreational listening’. Technical? Yup.

Also love a lot of the later 80s through 90s stuff the Japanese did with their anime soundtracks. Cheezefest to be sure but I like cheese ;)

Oh you would love this little coffee shop where I live. They have a serious Gary Numan fetish. At least 3 varieties of “Numan” sandwich and this huge photomosaic: http://m.yelp.com/biz_photos/iron-horse-coffee-co-rogers?select=ewEjN4_agt1QrjluYpqSJg

And being as this is NW Arkansas, NO HIPSTERS!

I feel fairly safe in saying that you just documented one sign of the coming apocalypse. Or proved the multiple universe theory because I’m confident that on our earth, A gary Numan anything in Arkie is ...I don’t even have the words other than COOL!

I know, right? And to top it off it’s owned by a nice, devout Catholic family. So the randomness continues... :)

// BITTERNESS and ignorance are dangerous bed fellows. //

That they are. What a wasted opportunity this is for our young, with yet another teachable moment deliberately obfuscated and squandered. Well, except in the negative Alinsky sense, in which the burning stores serve a darker (”Can I say that?” MOTUS) purpose.

I hope for the sake of their memories they don’t listen to his post 90s work. His atheism took center stage in his lyrics. The actual music is awesome, but the lyrical content just kills it for me. I mean, I can listen to Slayer and Possessed with no problem. But tjats mostly just shock value stuff. Numan actually believes the stuff he’s singing now.Prior to that, he was pretty musically diverse. Some crap but a lot of incredible stuff.

They blocked the West Side Highway tonight also. I realized the soft hum of the traffic noise had stopped, and then the endless helicopters started in. The doormen told me the highway was blocked. I went out anyway, hoping they didn’t decide to walk up to Broadway and loot some shops.
