Gov. Jay Nixon of Missouri ordered more National Guard troops into the embattled city of Ferguson on Tuesday to keep order on the second night after a grand jury decided not to indict a white police officer who shot and killed an unarmed black teenager.
“The violence we saw in areas of Ferguson last night is unacceptable,” the governor said in a statement. He pledged to work for the protection of lives and property and said more details would be released later.
On Monday night, at least 12 buildings were burned, police reported looting, and gunfire broke out repeatedly. More than 80 people were arrested in Ferguson and nearby St. Louis. The civil unrest followed the grand jury’s decision not to charge Officer Darren Wilson, who shot and killed 18-year-old Michael Brown on Aug. 9.

When protesters show up for a riot, smart police do not do what the Ferguson cops did. Don’t start soft, start hard.
After the grand jury announcement, Jon Belmar, chief of the St. Louis County police, said he told officers to back off, suggesting they handle the situation as if it were a festival or baseball game. But the situation quickly “spun out of control,” as protesters looted businesses and set fire to numerous vehicles, including at least two police cars. Officers eventually lobbed tear gas from inside armored vehicles to disperse crowds.
There are a lot of citizens in Ferguson that have nothing to do with the shooting, they are not protesting and they are not looting. They are stuck in a nasty situation. One that they likely never imagined happening.
One essential task of government is to stop people or groups from harming citizens. I would estimate a majority of the scumbag terrorists are not Ferguson residents.
Imagine it is your neighborhood, your block in your city.
