The legal fight may over in Ferguson, Mo., but the war of words has just begun.

The family of slain teen Michael Brown Jr. and the Rev. Al Sharpton will hold a joint press conference Tuesday in Ferguson, Mo., one day after a St. Louis grand jury chose not to indict Police Officer Darren Wilson in the Aug. 9 shooting.

Some of the national leaders met with President Obama on Nov. 5 for a gathering that included a conversation about Ferguson.

According to the Rev. Al Sharpton, who has appeared frequently in St. Louis with the Brown family and delivered a speech at Mr. Brown’s funeral, Mr. Obama “was concerned about Ferguson staying on course in terms of pursuing what it was that he knew we were advocating. He said he hopes that we’re doing all we can to keep peace.”

Sharpton a key advisor to Obama on Ferguson (reported back directly to Valerie Jarrett)
NY Post ^ | August 22, 2014 | Pat Bailey

EXCERPT

While in Ferguson, Sharpton met with the Brown family and reported back directly to Valerie Jarrett, one of Obama’s closest aides.

Sharpton was directed to find out specific information including what the Brown family wanted from the White House, Politico reports.

The veteran activist, who is also leading Saturday’s march on Staten Island against police brutality in New York, even suggested Jarrett turn up the heat on Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, a Democrat, and appoint a special prosecutor to replace St. Louis prosecutor Bob McCulloch in the Brown case.

EXCERPTS

In Trayvon’s case, (Parks & Crump) alerted the news media more quickly. They phoned the Rev. Al Sharpton almost instantly, and organized marches with local civil rights activists. They also started pressing for federal involvement and alleging a cover-up from the get-go.

(snip)

“In court, you have the jury,” Crump says. “Our job is to get the case to a jury. We need to fight first in the court of public opinion. The jury is the American people.

If body cameras are adapted it will take about 6 mo.s before the thug class starts protesting that the cameras invade their privace.

Body cameras are actually a good idea but would these people be any happier if Wilson had been exonerated sooner?

Good. Body cameras would have shown the top of the “angel’s” head charging Wilson. In several famous cases the cops would have been vindicated.

This is a good plan! Cameras are good for everyone and there will be no legitimate dispute about what took place. Rather than rioting this is productive and I applaud it.

I’ll bet Wilson wishes he had a body cam.

I think they should get them and then show the fools families how these idiots behave. Put them on the nightly news. Shame can be a good thing.

Might create a delima for a thug. Would you go for the cop’s camera or gun first?

As much as I believe that the officer was justified in taking out the thug Michael Brown, it is extremely unlikely that the police will agree to wearing body cameras.

There are too many cases where the killing is NOT justified, especially during late night and early morning “no-knock” raids, where people are killed on their couches or in their beds just for moving the “wrong” way. Not to mention the fate of the hapless family dog.

My son's department has had them for at least a decade, with audio. Saved him from a charge of racism too. A black woman wrote a letter to the editor of the local rag, saying my son used racist language when he stopped her for speeding, they published her letter, then the police chief wrote his own letter, refuting the charge and invited any citizen to stop by the station and review the video and audio, which the chief said would show how courteous and respectful he was to the woman.

No takers on his offer however.

If Officer Wilson had a body camera is would be clear to the whole world that their worthless thug of a son deserved to be shot to death.

When eye witness accounts and convenience store surveillance cameras reveal their son’s behavior, how will police body cameras make a difference. These people exist in a world of delusion where their son’s own behavior as was revealed before their own eyes did not matter. It started when Michael Brown ate all the cookies in the cookie jar and said that he did not eat them and ended when he became aggressive and appeared under the influence of drugs. In a orderly society, the truth is required and following the rules is how one becomes a human being rather than a savage.

When you are losing the verbal battle, change the subject

I would suggest that all male black teens till 25 wear cameras to monitor their criminal activities.

There's a police department in the Northeast that installed dashboard cameras after a string of high-profile incidents involving allegations of misconduct on the part of the police in dealing with a certain racial minority group.

Ten years later, it turns out that the cameras almost always exonerate the police whenever a dispute arises. In fact, the cameras are usually used as evidence to support criminal charges against motorists for filing false charges of police brutality.

Michael Brown's parents and the professional malcontents among their supporters should remember that there WAS a camera indirectly involved this case: the security camera in the convenience store where Brown was seen stealing the cigars and manhandling the clerk. This camera footage told us everything we need to know about that loser.

Yup. And of course if the camera depicts the thug in a bad light, or corroborates the officer’s description of events, the cry will go up that the video has been “tampered with.”

You simply cannot win with people whose favorite pastime is “agitating.”

Au contraire, then they would be claiming "profiling" from the lack of OTB perps caught on video.

What was an initial claim against the Ferguson police? Two-thirds of traffic stops were of black drivers? Never mind that Ferguson was 70% black.
