Or, at least, don’t let it into your room.

I guess there is something to that “cats suck out peoples’ breaths” thing.

Since this is an excerpt from a book, if it’s the same cat, somebody in the nursing home killed it and threw it into a garbage can.......

Every time we hear a story like this we next hear of the cat’s untimely demise.

He suggests Oscar is able - like dogs, which can reportedly smell cancer - to detect ketones, the distinctly-odoured biochemicals given off by dying cells.

These ketones must be like catnip to this cat.

Interesting.

This happened with my mother-in-law. The cat had the run of the big place. My MIL was there for a year and half dying of Lewy Body Dementia. In her final days the cat was a constant presence. It rarely visited her room before that time. It was oddly comforting to see the kitty curled up next to her.

i don’t doubt kitty’s abilities for a moment, as both cats and dogs can smell or detect other medical conditions

they’re very talented

but... really....have they checked this kitty out for maybe having a lethal virus in its scratch, or??????????

just asking...
meanwhile, don’t let kitty near ya!

I heard on the news that Robin Williams was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. That could explain his need to end his life.

Everybody knows that everybody dies and nobody knows it like the kitty. But I do think that all the skies of all the Earth might just turn dark if Oscar ever for one moment, accepts it. Everybody knows that everybody dies. But not every day. Not today. Some days are special. Some days are so, so blessed. Some days, nobody dies at all.

(In the nursing home, Oscar walks back to the dying patient’s room. He stops, looking at the doors. Then he raises his tail, and stands there poised like that for a long moment. Finally he flicks his tail. He saunters slowly and walks in, joining the dying patient. Then he flicks his tail again, and begins the wait.)

Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair, and the kitty comes to call... somebody lives.
