(KMOV.com) – It can be a terrifying situation when a driver is in their vehicle and is suddenly surrounded by protesters and it happened multiple times during protesting in Ferguson.
So what do you do if you find yourself in this situation? News 4’s Sharon Reed sat down with two security experts who shared their 60 years’ experience.
It’s important to remember to:
Remain calm. Getting excited tends to get others excited. Slow down. Don’t run anyone over where you will injure them. Stay in your vehicle. Keep the doors locked and windows rolled up. If you are inside your car, police can identify who are the victims and who are the aggressors.

The best thing to do is stay out of the way and let them and the police fight it out.

A firearm discharging within the confines of an automobile can cause permanent hearing loss. Moral: bring ear plugs or range muffs.
Run them over. Don’t stop until the police stop you. Say nothing to the police except “I thought they were going to kill me...I feared for my life.” Only talk to your attorney.
An angry mob rocking my vehicle? I won't be getting out of it to negotiate with them....
I saw a movie once where a family were surrounded while they were in their car.... The father tried to reason with the mob.. A thug broke a rear window and threw a fire bomb into the car.... The father, mother, and two daughters were toast. Yea that stay calm and talk it out works every time...

I sure as heck am going to floor it. NEVER slow down or stop in that type of situation; you will only end up dead.

Never go through an area like that unless you are caught by surprise. Be heavily armed with weapons ready.
Slow down and try to slowly move through the area. If they start throwing Molotov cocktails or try to break in, roll down the windows and begin shooting. pick out deliberate targets who you think are instigators. Of course the ones trying to kill you should get the first bullets.
Drive as fast as you can while still maintaining control of your vehicle. Get out of there as fast as reasonably possible.
If they have their blood lust up they probably will kill you no matter what but 9 times out of 10 if you begin shooting, they will run away.
