[GOP Governor-elect Bruce] Rauner says Obama immigration move 'great start'
Chicago Tribune ^ | Nov. 21, 2014 | Michelle Manchir,

Republican Gov.-elect Bruce Rauner on Friday called President Barack Obama’s executive action on immigration a “great start” to “get the dialogue going” on immigration policy changes.

The comments came as Rauner addressed more than 900 advocates for the Latino community in Rosemont. Rauner told the crowd he supports “comprehensive immigration reform,” which he acknowledged will take more work. Immigration reform 'opens doors' NIU student and undocumented citizen, Laura Ramirez, faces daily challenges of living without citizenship.

“The real way to do it is on a bipartisan basis, through Congress, through the legislature, with the president, with the states all working together … to make sure the changes are permanent, they’re structurally in place for the long term,” said Rauner, receiving applause.

Later, when asked by a reporter if he supported Obama’s executive orders, Rauner said “It’s good that the president gets the discussion moving.”

Again to repeat my point of the subject of this thread, the new governor of Illinois, is preferable to the democrat alternative.

Which would you think to be a greater danger to the sheep, a wolf in sheep's clothing, or a wolf in wolf's clothing?

I can say that without even the need to research both of them.

i guess it's true: "Ignorance is bliss."

This statement speaks volumes on his own. He knows nothing about the candidates themselves, but automatically "knows" Bruce RAHMner is an improvement by the virtue of the fact he had an "R" next to his name on the ballot.

Just shows you that there are "low information voters" on our side of the spectrum too, who mindlessly support who they're told to by their overlords, and don't give a cr@p about the candidates themselves.

Using his logic, "Republican" Earl Warren must have automatically been an improvement over his predecessor, Democrat Fred M. Vinson. Things were soooo much better for conservatives under Warren's tenure, right?

I have researched enough republicans and democrats since 1970 when I first became eligible to vote. I do not even waste my time anymore. In my profession of engineering, the governing principle is to avoid spending resources on useless items.

If you take even a cursory look at conditions in Illinois under democrat leaders, it is obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense, that something must change.

The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. On that principle alone, any RINO governor would avail Illinois a better chance to avoid impending bankruptcy, lowered ratings on bonds, and industry fleeing the state with huge job losses.

Hillary will never have an “R” under her name. Irrelevant point.

I agree. We went through this whole process four years ago when phony "fiscal conservative" RINO Mark Kirk was elected U.S. Senator from Illinois to "stop" Obama, and he's become best pals with Obama and done more damage in the Senate than his lame duck RAT predecessor (Roland Burris) ever did. The media gushed over the fact that a "highly respected decorated military veteran Republican Mark Kirk" had "evolved" on gay marriage, for example.

The fact people would now elect phony "fiscal conservative" RINO Bruce Rauner shows they have learned nothing. None one of these allegedly "fiscally conservative" RINOs has actually governed that way after they get in, but people keep drinking the kool-aid over and over again. Very definition of insanity..

Hillary will never have an “R” under her name.

But if she did, you'd say she was 'an improvment.'

Irrelevant point.

I don't think so.

Sen. Mark Kirk agreed with Obama’s immigration plan on Fri., but I don’t know who said it first, Kirk or Rauner.

I hope no one thought that Rauner was fiscally conservative, since he wants to increase the sales tax rate and increase the minimum wage. I hope all Illinois voters think that he’s slightly less liberal than Quinn.

That is what I do not understand. Why are so many here expecting Rauner to suddenly morph into a conservative? I think everyone knew he was on the left end on RINO scale before election. If he was even slightly more conservative, he could have never won over Quinn in liberal Illinois. As you said, Illinois is hoping he is slightly more conservative on fiscal issues than Quinn, and that he is the only hope for avoiding defaults, bond rating drops and eventual bankruptcy in the state.

17 years back when I left Illinois, it was not as bad as it is now. But the signs were already visible.

Again, the only difference between Hillary Clinton and Bruce Rauner is the letter by their name. I don’t know why you can’t get that.

Near as I can tell, you're the only one here expecting anything out of Rauner.

OK, I will answer you one last time in this thread, only because you have not posted anything rude. The only thing common between Hillary & Rauner is their connection to Illinois.

Here is a summary of their Business experience:

Rauner was the Chairman of private equity firm GTCR, where he had worked for more than 30 years, starting in 1981 through his retirement in October 2012.

A number of state pension funds, including those of Illinois, have invested in GTCR, whose funds have regularly outperformed other private equity investment funds as well as the stock market.

After leaving GTCR, Rauner opened an office for a self-financed venture firm, R8 Capital Partners. The firm will invest up to $15 million in smaller Illinois companies.

Rauner is the current Chairman of the Education Committee of the Civic Committee of The Commercial Club of Chicago, Co-Chairman of the Chicago-China Initiative, and Chairman of ACT Charter School.

He also served as Chairman of Choose Chicago, the not-for-profit that serves as the city’s convention and tourism bureau, resigning in May 2013, and as Chairman of the Chicago Public Education Fund.

Hillary’s business experience in running anything:

Big fat zero!

That is probably what voters in Illinois saw in choosing him over Quinn. Hope springs eternal.

The voters chose nothing. The Combine decides elections. Rauner was THEIR choice, not the people’s.

Yeah, but I’m sure he was never as successful as her at trading cattle futures.

But in any case, I was talking about their views towards public policy. And there ain’t a dime’s worth of difference.
