Why McConnell and Boehner Won't Do Anything to Stop Obama (vanity)
21 Nov 2014 | Self

Posted on 11/21/2014 9:51:50 AM PST by fruser1

Aside from the pouting and lawsuits that won't amount to anything, nothing is going to happen to stop Obama's decree on immigration.

Why? Because, as RINOS, McConnell and Boehner want what Obama wants.

They really don't give a hoot about this, but to console their base, they feel obliged to step out and shake their fists.

This is just an attempt to shut-up those extreme TEA party types.

That's all that's gonna happen here. What do you think?

“Good luck trying to convince GOP Party hacks and loyalists of that fact.”

Yep, and there are loads of those surrender monkeys here at free republic.

I am seeing it plain as day now.

They could also close ALL immigration offices.

If they ignore their base, they can be voted out like Cantor.

They've been ignoring their base for years...they still get elected. IMHO, Cantor was a fluke. Either that, or there are some super smart folks over in Virginia.

It’s scarcely two weeks since a historic victory and Republicans are squandering it.

How is this a surprise? This is PRECISELY what Conservatives, who don't always vote R just because R, have been saying for some time. Tell me again why it was SOOOOOO IMPORTANT (!!!) to get that R majority?

I’m not so sure .. I think then current leaders have seen what the BASE of the repubs is made of (since 11/4) and it’s not what they may want, but it’s what they’re stuck with.

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO: You go to the Senate/House websites and you find out what their phone numbers are .. and you call them DAILY IF YOU HAVE TO .. just in order to make them understand we expect them to support and defend America and her LAWS.

Here’s the main switchboard - 202-224-3121 - ask for any representative or senator. Be smart .. have your question or statement written down .. practice it so you won’t be nervous. Don’t call anybody foul names (even though you might want to), and make it short and to the point. AND, call at a different time of day each time.

If you’re not willing to do that .. then you have no argument.

A REPUBLIC (we are not a democracy) is of THE PEOPLE. Except, if the people lay down on the job and don’t tell their elected what they expect; the REPUBLIC will no longer exist.

...

I agree. If anything, they’ll use Obama’s amnesty as an excuse to do their own. Any opposition they show now is nothing but theater.

No spine!!!

I used to think that, but now I believe it is not a lack of spine, but that they are on the same side as Democrats, only disagree about the tactics and some of the policies on the margin. They show plenty of spine when someone opposes them from the right.

My new working theory: if zero has to push registration on 5 million illegals, they probably don’t want it, like zerocare.

Where is the hispanic celebrating and rallying in the street? Thought I’d see at least one since last night’s speech.

Yeah, at this rate there won’t be any Democrats left in the Senate to vote out. Isn’t that just awful!

I keep wondering what would happen if the legislature would defund the government?
shut the whole thing down for a year or two. No bureaucrats, no military, no courts, no welfare, no social security, no taxes, nothing. Of course the individual states would pick up the slack on administration and border protection. Churches could help out with the charitable causes. I believe it would be a chance for a new beginning to rid ourselves of the beast in Washington that is no longer functioning as intended.

I like your idea.

You have a point. Unfortunately most of the Management of the major corporations, which have an undue influence on some Republican office holders, are only focused on the increased markets & cheaper labor from a flood of new bodies. Thus the compromised Pseudo-Conservative game playing.

But the ultimate issue, here, is the very survival of the Republic as a Federation of free States, dedicated to preserving the American heritage, born in the Declaration & vindicated at York Town in 1781. To understand why so much of Academia runs cover for those frustrating all efforts to control our border, see Surrender By Subterfuge.

We will either wake up all who are capable of understanding the heritage that is being dismembered, or it will rapidly become too late.

One thing they could do is keep offering riders to the continuing resolution. It of course would require a few Democrats to switch over to get them into the bill. Then it will become the President's fault for closing the government when Obama vetoes the bill.

But yes that is about all they can do. Let's see if any of the Republicans have the guts to try that legislative maneuver. About the only one I see doing that is Ted Cruz along with Mike Lee.

I’m not so sure I agree with your assessment, but it most certainly is a probability. Time will tell.

"I don’t see why they can’t impeach him when the new congress comes in, other than that RINO bit."

I think the fear is that impeachment will make him a martyr and allow him and the media to paint the pubs as racists. So, instead of a debate on the legitimate aspects of impeachment, it will all be turned on the pubs.

"and I’m for shutdown as well."

It will probably come to this, and I think that's what the pubs are waiting for. They will attach riders to critical spending bills prohibiting spending on his immigration schemes.
