Mary Landrieu against the GOP Wave
Yahoo News ^ | November 20, 2014

Posted on 11/20/2014 9:22:56 AM PST by Din Maker

Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana is the last Democrat up for election in 2014 following a GOP wave that swept eight of her colleagues out of office in November.

She is increasingly facing it alone as she readies for a Dec. 6 runoff against her Republican opponent, Rep. Bill Cassidy. The campaign arm of the Senate Democrats withdrew $2 million in reserved ad time in the state immediately after Election Day, Nov. 4. The Senate Majority PAC, which spent more than $2.4 million on Landrieu’s behalf in the general, has not spent a single dollar in the past week, according to Federal Election Commission reports. Meanwhile, conservative groups are still pouring thousands of dollars into ads against her.

Despite the air of negative inevitability that surrounds her, Landrieu has spent her time back in Washington thrashing forward in hopes that action will keep her afloat.

She tried to push through legislation authorizing construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline running from Canada to Texas.

“This was a discussion about a pipeline. You would have thought it was the end of the earth. You would have thought it was the most significant thing that was happening in the free world or the entire world. Guess what? It wasn’t,” Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), an ally of Landrieu’s, told reporters late Tuesday night. “We have taken this discussion about a pipeline and made it about much more than it is.”

“I was proud of Mary and the fight that she led for us, the fight that we almost won,” (Joe) Manchin said Wednesday. “I hope the people of Louisiana know what a fighter they have in Mary Landrieu, that she’s not afraid to take on — whether it be the president, whether it be the leaders of her own party or the establishment.

This is the part of the article that p.o.'d me the most:

“I was proud of Mary and the fight that she led for us, the fight that we almost won,” Manchin said Wednesday. “I hope the people of Louisiana know what a fighter they have in Mary Landrieu, that she’s not afraid to take on — whether it be the president, whether it be the leaders of her own party or the establishment. … This is something that needed to be talked about and needed to be debated, and Mary got that debate for us. We got our say. This day would have never come had Mary not been in charge.” A week earlier, Manchin said he was praying that Louisiana would keep Mary Landrieu in the Senate."

It's time for Manchin to be challenged and defeated whenever he's up for reelection. West Virginia is a Red State now. Show his butt to the door.

The MSM trying to salvage one last seat. Pathetic.

Landrieu’s feeble attempt to get her colleagues to pass Keystone shows her desperation. She’ll be lucky to get within ten points of Cassidy in the final tally.

Amen. I can’t wait to vote against Manchin. His canoodling with the anti-gunners was waaay over the line. That proves he’s stupid besides. He’s done a lot of mouth breathing since. Mountaineers don’t forget. He could suck a golf ball through a garden hose and it wouldn’t get him anywhere now.

As for Mary, someone put it well. She went down on Obama and now she’s going down. Eff the both of them.

Let’s hope Cassidy doesn’t get complacent as other pubbies have in the past. Would like to see him inform the voters of all the lib pro abortion RAT judges she voted to confirm during her career.

You’re exactly right. Cassidy would be well served to not rest on his laurels. She has never lost a Run-off Election. The Run-off is on a Saturday. To the N’Yawlins Welfare/Entitlement bunch, Saturday is just another day to them. They’ll show up to vote. When you’re on the Government dole and don’t work, every day is the same. I hope Cassidy’s supporters don’t go fishing, stay home and watch the SEC Championship Game, or think the race is over and stay home.

I will not rest easily until this thing is OVER!!!

That’s what we’re aiming for. It would be great if Cassidy blew her away. I liked someone else more in the race but if Cassidy is what it takes to get Landrieu out - I’m in. Adieu, Landrieu - FINALLY!

If Landrieu really understood her problem and wanted to turn things around she would be doing a whirlwind of the state with a goal to personally ask every Louisiana voter to give her a second chance.

But she is at heart a fat, lazy out of touch Washington politician who has lost touch with her constituents and would rather use her limited time in power to find a cushy Washington lobbying job for her self

Joe Manchin: Mary Landrieu, is a fighter and not afraid to take them on — whether it be the president, whether it be the leaders of her own party or the establishment.

You're exactly right, Joe. She stood tough against the President and Harry Reid when it came to the vote on ObamaCare. Oh.... wait a minute.......... uh....... scratch that.

I think she’s now mainly concentrated on fund raising and that major portion that she can covertly “convert” to personal cash. Look for her to get paid while a candidate, get paid for consulting and all her relatives and cronies to be paid consultants. Gots to have that retirement cash.

“Let’s hope Cassidy doesn’t get complacent as other pubbies have in the past.”

I live in Baton Rouge, and Cassidy has been hammering her pretty good with ads.

Those ads are absolutely no good if people don’t get out and vote. People’s minds are made up. Now the name of the game is GOTV.

Don’t be concerned about GOTV. We conservative Louisianans are clamoring to vote her fat behind out.

On the other hand, her voters have been trained to vote only when PAID by a candidate to vote. And she ain’t got no money.

That’s good news. I hope she loses by 20 percentage points.

Where’s the doom and gloom crowd on this? Shouldn’t we see predictions that Lil Mary wins because Blacks vote 12 times each after being bussed around the state while Cassidy and his people sit on their front porches drinking mint juleps or something?
