Under the Law of Moses those who testified falsely were liable to the same penalty they schemed to inflict on another, up to and including the death penalty.

Seems entirely reasonable.

Something that never seems to get addressed in these stories is the very real difference between someone not receiving a completely fair trial, and someone being actually innocent of the charges.

I understand there is no way, given human limitations, to fully diferentiate between the two, but we could at least make a nod towards admitting there’s a difference between an actually guilty person convicted by tainted evidence, and an actually innocent person convicted the same way.

The United States has a very high conviction rate, upwards of 90%, with federal prosecutions being 99% by some definitions. That’s just wrong, and probably indicates a lot of injustice.

Not a JBT Ping

This should have a chilling effect on malicious prosecution.

To: I want the USA back

I expect most of the people covivted of ANYTHING by one or esp. both of these persons will be seeking appeals

Sadly K.Anderson was a Repub.

Its is also WRONG that the Private Club.. oh I mean the BAR will get to make any decisions on this as it was the entity that had to bring charges.. always nice to know your fellow JD’s are the only ones that can investigate you.

A JD is as close as one gets to violating Article I, Section 9, Clause 8: in the USA.

Ten Days? That’s it? Michael Morton spent 25 years in prison as an innocent man and Anderson made it happen. Anderson didn’t make a mistake or overlook something, he intentionally with held evidence, on purpose.

What an insult to Morton and all Texans.

I can’t believe that the wrong convicted man did not kill the prosecutor when he was released.

I’ll bet that innocent man squatting in prison for 25 years was so glad he lived in Texas, too.

Ten days!!!??? That’s it? What the hell? This guy should be in prison for the same amount of time that was taken from the wrongly convicted. Either that or sentence him to be the wrongly convicted man’s servant for 25 years.

Totally agree, punishment should fit the crime.

But, this is the first crack in the dam.

And given that one of his new 'roommates' just might be another one of the victims of his shenanigans, 10 days could be a life sentence...

Yes, this prosecutor is finally getting (a very small piece of) what is coming to him, but I wouldn’t exactly use this case to defend the Texas justice system.

For what it's worth department:

How Ken Anderson was released after only five days in jail

Update 3:40 p.m.: Ken Anderson was released from jail today because he got credit for good
behavior behind bars, according to a spokesman for the Willamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Inmates can earn an extra day of credit for every day they serve without creating any
disciplinary problems, said Fred Thomas, a sheriff’s spokesman.

Earlier: Former prosecutor Ken Anderson was released from jail today after serving just half
of his 10-day sentence for contempt of court in connection with the wrongful conviction of Michael
Morton. Anderson already had one day of credit for time served before he began his sentence Tuesday.

He only took 1/2 a vacation as he was released after
serving only five days.

If that prosecutor/judge has any assets then this wrongly convicted person should
get most of them if he can get it to a jury.

totally agree...here is the scripture reference below...if the man who was wrongly convicted served 25 years then that is what the prosecutor should have gotten...and the man wrongly convicted should get the prosecutors possessions...

Deut 19:16-21
If a malicious witness takes the stand to accuse a man of a crime, 17 the two men involved in the dispute must stand in the presence of the Lord before the priests and the judges who are in office at the time. 18 The judges must make a thorough investigation, and if the witness proves to be a liar, giving false testimony against his brother, 19 then do to him as he intended to do to his brother. You must purge the evil from among you. 20 The rest of the people will hear of this and be afraid, and never again will such an evil thing be done among you.
