Legalise handguns and repatriate migrants: Ukip's 7 most controversial policies
The Telegraph ^

On the eve of the Rochester by-election we take you through the Ukip policies and positions which have caught the imagination of voters.

Deport migrants

Mark Reckless, the Ukip candidate in the Rochester and Strood by-election, has raised the prospect of European migrants being forced to leave Britain if Ukip wins power.

Mr Reckless said workers from the continent would only be allowed to stay in Britain for a fixed “transitional period” under Ukip plans to end unrestricted migration from the rest of Europe.

He said the party would be willing to “look sympathetically” at people who have “integrated”.

The remarks were seized upon by rival candidates as evidence that Ukip wants to make migrants “go back” to their home countries.

A spokesman for Mr Reckless insisted the proposal was “common sense” and “humane”, and insisted he does not want to “round people up for summary deportation”

I sure do, and as soon as possible.

#3 seems to mean MARKETPLACE solutions with insurance companies offering plans....it does NOT appear to mean the disastrous Obamacare.

I certainly don’t agree with everything he says but I do wish we had a leader in government that talked frankly like this about immigration

I agree with all the items except I’m not so sure about #6 .... what was their reasoning on that one?

Stop giving them junk—money and free places to stay—Cut the welfare and they will go where the money is better—maybe give them flights to the USA!

Mr Farage has said it is time to stop opposing Vladimir Putin’s incursion into Ukraine and join forces with the Russian leader in the fight against Islamic extremists.

The Ukip leader said that Western countries must stop “playing war games in Ukraine and poking the “Russian bear with a stick” because Mr Putin is “on our side” in the war against Islamic extremism.

He courted controversy earlier this year when he said that Mr Putin, the former KGB officer, is the statesman he most admires.

In a debate at the European Parliament Mr Farage gave a speech expressing a sympathetic interpretation of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, he said European states had “directly encouraged” the uprising that “led in turn to Vladimir Putin reacting”.

The Big Media in the UK that support the “Conservative Party” of David Cameron are trying to stir the pot to hurt UKIP in tomorrow’s parliamentary by-election by publishing articles like this.....

Not sure i know what a “ Rochester and Strood by-election” is and if the word BY is spelled wrong, I am not sure I want to know.

However the ideas seem pretty logical to me. I guess the British, after over a century of creeping socialism need to take small steps toward freedom. A giant leap might be too much for their system.

A seat in the House of Commons is being contested tomorrow in a special election called when Conservative MP Mark Reckless defected to UKIP and resigned so he could go before voters in the special election as the UKIP candidate.

Very much support them but that last one seems rather pointless at this point. They’d do better to ban Muslims or just stop all immigration for a while. Which, of course, is what we should do. But I don’t get the idea of focusing on HIV, that’s so 20th century man.

Basically, a member of the Conservative Party that was an MP defected to UKIP a few weeks ago..........

MPs defecting is not un common, but them having the decency to resign their seat and stand again under the new party banner is. They don’t actually have to resign their seat and stand again and normally they don’t so this was an honorable thing to do.

It will be UKIP’s second MP and rumors are more are set to defect....

A by-election is what we’d call a “special election”, an election held outside the normal time for elections.

Whew!

The United States and Great Briton, two nations separated by a common language. I think Churchill said something like that.

Yes they have taken fire at UKIP today.

The conservatives have had Cameron go down there 5 times and something ridiculous like every Tory MP was ordered to go down there 5 times each........and yet still UKIP will win comfortably.

That spineless piece of crap Cameron even begged Labour and Green Party voters to vote Conservative to keep UKIP out.

Many thanks for that background info about “making friends with Putin”; given that context of “not poking the bear with a stick”, I can agree with what the ukip is saying.

Yeah its the usual Stalinist media smears that lead to headlines like that........Farage has made quite clear his contempt for Putin but people must look closer at what sparked the events in Ukraine and the tyrannical EU is right at the heart of that.
