So, what do you think?

Good analysis?

A way to deflect that the Left took a drubbing in 2014?

Another article to help deepen the wedge in Republican circles?

A warning to the wise?

A total misread?

September 30, 2014 piece by the same pundit - Bill Scher:

Good News, Democrats, You’re Going to Lose!

"................Underlying the Republican predicament is that they are on the brink of a big victory despite being deeply unpopular. Shutdown, balkanization, obstruction and investigation has earned congressional Republicans an approval rating of 19 percent, far worse than President Obama’s numbers. Winning the Senate will not be validation of a party philosophy or platform, especially when one has not been offered. It simply allows the House’s haphazard governing approach to spill over into the Senate. This is not a recipe for restoring the party’s battered brand. Voters in November may throw out several Democratic incumbents and hand the reins to Republicans because they want less dysfunction in Washington. They will receive a rude awakening when they realize dysfunction is all that a divided Republican Party can provide. No longer accountable for any “Washington” gridlock, liberated Democrats will giddily run against “Republican dysfunction” in 2016, which not only will abet the presidential nominee but also smooth the path to retaking the Senate as several blue state Republicans will be on the ballot. For the Democrats, losing the Senate couldn’t come at a better time......"

I think people assign Obama too much intelligence. If he was brilliant, they would proudly release his university transcripts. Without a TelePrompTer, Obama is a babbling idiot.

The people who believe that Obama is smart only do so because they are spoon fed this information by the MSM. The MSM covers and spins for Obama. Strip the MSM of its power, and Obama and the progressives collapse. After 6 years of lies, people are starting to question Obama and Liberal fascism.

It’s quite possible that the next two years will get very nasty for Obama and his crew. We might night see multiple requests for asylum from Democrat leadership and their staff.

You start with a bill to close and secure the border. Those that don’t could easily be gone in 2016.

Believe me, the last thing Obama wants is a government shutdown. There is nothing more dear to a democrat than government spending.

Tie amnesty and Obamacare to a government shutdown (a REAL and total shutdown) and Obama will cave in a month. He would have done so last time had the GOPe not stabbed Ted Cruz in the back.

The Obama brain trust couldn’t have foreseen Grubergate.

The specter of renewed public anger over Obamacare (especially during this enrollment period’s newest mess-ups and revelations) is complicating thing.

I think this piece is a collection of the usual unimaginative Beltway conventional wisdom.

First, I don't buy the argument that "government shutdowns" outrage the people -- this is classic Beltway CW (see, for example, Brit Hume's recent comments about this -- "Republicans always thake the "blame" for shutdowns"). In fact, the vast majority of the public barely notices any shutdown -- and rightly so, as there never HAS been a real "shutdown"; only a few bureaucrats furloughed for a few days. The only people outraged by the "shutdowns" are fans of government, and that includes virtually all of the east coast media. If the shutdowns are so harmful to the GOP, why did we just sweep the recent mid-term elections?

Second, again the Beltway CW claims that the public "wants the parties to work together to accomplish something." No they don't -- as Rush has eloquently pointed out, the electorate wants the Obama-Socialist agenda defeated. If it takes a shutdown to do that in part, so be it. Once again, it's the media that peddles this crap.

Finally, the article attributes to Obama and his minions an intelligence and cunning that they do not possess. This idea that Obama is some evil liberal mastermind is a total crock. He cannot think his way out of a paper bag and does not know how to effectively respond to any political crisis, as this Gruber-gate stuff has clearly demonstrated. Obama is acting exactly as one would expect him to -- like the petulant, obnoxious brat that he is.

This is what passes for political analysis. Pathetic.

Nov. 19, 2014: Transparent Tyranny-Opposing it shouldn’t be bad politics. [Do] Repubs understand their duty?

"Anxieties within the GOP over a possible government shutdown in the wake of Obama’s promise to push amnesty by unconstitutional executive order continue to grow. Those anxieties don’t show much confidence in the American voter.

The fear appears to be that voters will punish the GOP in two years for opposing Obama’s open tyranny. In other words, GOP leaders think the American people prefer unconstitutional government to a limited government shutdown aimed at stopping it. If that is true, American democracy is as degraded as Jonathan Gruber’s infamous remarks suggest.

In a healthy democracy, politicians wouldn’t even debate whether or not to fund an unconstitutional order. They would automatically defund it. That GOP leaders turn to pollsters and image consultants before deliberating on such a fundamental issue is already a bad sign. By saying in effect that they will lose their power if they defend the Constitution, they reveal the emptiness of that power.

And it is not even clear if they are correct in thinking that principled opposition constitutes bad politics. The government shutdown of 2013 obviously didn’t impede GOP success. It may have contributed to it. In any case, it is hard to see how a refusal to fund Obama’s illegal amnesty could prove more dangerous than that shutdown.

If Obama insisted on rejecting all funding of the government until Congress financed his law-breaking, even the liberal media would find that hard to spin as a frivolous GOP-forced shutdown. Perhaps anticipating the difficulty of defending his intransigence where his legal authority is nil, papers like the Washington Post are warning him against the amnesty order......"

It did not communicate to the liberal base via the Huffington Post or even old standbys like the New York Times and the Washington Post. The “exclusive” went to Fox News.

Good analysis?

This is Politico. Everything they write is biased. No analysis that is biased can be considered ‘good’.

This is written for the Left, why? Notice the Tea Party faction of the GOP is ‘extremist’, ‘evil’, ‘uncontrollable’, etc., even if not explicitly stated.

Politico is attempting to paint Obama as some sort of mater poker player stoking the flames of the ‘extremist’ right in the GOP.

All based on an observation that he released his press statements to Fox News only and none of the lefties media.

Bunk.

First of all we don’t even know if this observation of ‘Fox News only’ is even valid.

Secondly, it would have mattered even if it was true that the press release was to ‘Fox News only’ because all news outlets would get it within minutes of Fox getting it.

So what is the purpose of the article?

To make Obama look like a player, make him seem somehow in control of the Left’s enemies etc.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 as the highest, this article merits a 0.

Up until this sentence the Politico author was dead on. Then he goes off the rails with this:"Voters in November may throw out several Democratic incumbents and hand the reins to Republicans because they want less dysfunction in Washington."

Voters don't care about dysfunction, gridlock or whatever else the Beltway calls it, they want to STOP the function of government that is destroying the country, the economy, their jobs, their income, their health insurance, their schools, their hospitals, etc. This is way to much function that the Big Government Democrats are accomplishing.

It's not that the government isn't functioning, it's that it's functioning all too well in a destructive way.
