Sir John Major has attacked the UK Independence party (Ukip) for spreading profoundly un-British politics of “negativity and sheer nastiness”, as he warned the UK would be a less relevant nation if it left the European Union.

If John Major advocates something, quickly, do the opposite. Go MP Farage - bowl them all over!

What is this need to search for relevancy? Co-dependence? Lust for power?

Grow up, John!

Downsize. Thrive.

John Major, the George H. W. Bush of Britain!

I just popped in to say exactly that. Like GHWB, Major should be known for all time as the weak politician who frittered away what a preceding great statesman had built.

“He suggested Ukip’s stance on foreign aid contrasted with “the huge generosity of the British people” towards charitable causes including Children in Need and the fight against Ebola.”

A couple of comments:

1) So how much have “the British people” VOLUNTARILY given to “Children in Need and the fight against Ebola” versus how much as FORCIBLY TAKEN from them in those causes?

2) Note how the politicians equate the above causes to their quest to REPOPULATE their country with Third World types. Yes, I’m sure Brits (forcibly or now) really do want to help “Children in Need” and fight Ebola - but that DOES NOT mean that they also want to see their country repopulated.

This guy is/was bad news all around.

More Points:

1) Would Britain even be talking about Border Controls if UKIP wasn’t around? Of course not.

2) Would the ‘Conservatives’ in Britain be talking about Border Controls if the PEOPLE of Britain didn’t want them, regardless of what UKIP wants? Of course not.

3) Would Cameron be talking about a referendum on joining the EU if UKIP wasn’t around? Of course not.

Major is having a REALLY TOUGH time understanding his own people. Pretty bad. We have Obama here, he certainly understands Americans - he just HATES them.

> less relevant nation

Surrendering sovereignty and disappearing into the EU makes a nation relevant?

“We know what they are against, and that’s the negativity of the four-ale bar."

During his time as Prime Minister, he played himself up as an average guy. Now he sneers at the "negativity of the four-ale bar." What an elitist POS he is.

I put John Major in the same box as Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, as a former head of state that never stops telling successors what they should be doing. What an ass. The UK would fair much better economically if they withdrew from the EU.

I do respect Bush 41 and Bush 43 for NOT going public with criticism about their successors.

Not totally, the EU acts as purse strings for more money granted to local govts. After taking a big cut off the top, of course.

Now cities and counties have to go cap-in-hand to Brussels as well as London...
