Boehner Promises Amnesty Bill, then Reelected Speaker - (Nov. 4 was a waste).
Conservative Review ^ | November 13th, 2014 | Daniel Horowitz

Posted on 11/15/2014 11:15:46 AM PST by INVAR

It’s as if the November 4 elections never occurred.

Today, the new House membership met in a private conclave and reelected every one of their top leaders by voice vote. This includes John Boehner (R-OH) as Speaker, Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as Majority Leader, Steve Scalise (R-LA) as Majority Whip, and Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) as Conference Chair.

At a time of one of the worst constitutional crises in our nation’s history, when the president is threatening to imminently remake our society with immigration amnesty – a policy over which Congress holds absolute power – Republican leadership elections lacked any debate on strategy to stop this crisis. None of these people had to provide a platform or a commitment as to how they will deal with this dangerously imperial president. None of them had to make commitments to defund any and all lawless activity. They were all reelected by voice vote.

Even Saddam Hussein used to garner only 99% of the vote, but leadership did not want to conduct a traditional ballot in order to preclude members from voting present or writing in a different name.

We are in the midst of a severe constitutional crisis, with the president threatening to erase our borders and remake the country through illegal immigration, yet Boehner has already given in to Obama’s extortion by talking about the need for immigration deformity. With the upcoming budget bill being the last remaining check on Obama’s power, Boehner, McCarthy and their GOP leadership lieutenants are whipping support for long-term funding for everything Obama is requesting. Yet, today, there was no opposition at a time when Republicans could have made bold promises to one another.

Just hours before winning reelection to his speakership, Breitbart reported that Boehner said the following to Obama about paying his ransom on immigration:

After a White House meeting last week, Republicans described Speaker John Boehner aggressively confronting President Obama over the president's planned executive amnesty, prompting an extended period of a defensive Obama attempting to justify his actions. But a key moment of the meeting, left out from those accounts, was unveiled by Boehner himself in an exuberant moment of boasting in a closed-door meeting with GOP colleagues minutes ago. Boehner recalled telling Obama, “Mr. President, just give us one more chance to do this the right way. If we can't, then do what you gotta do.” So Boehner is telling Obama that he will have the green light to pass amnesty, but asked for permission to try one more time to pass it legislatively? I have this quote mentioned by Breitbart confirmed by several people in the room when Boehner said it.

Read that again. Boehner told the GOP conference behind closed doors that he told Obama he has the green light to shred our constitution and destroy our sovereignty if Republicans don’t do it through regular order. And then he was reelected Speaker just hours later!

This fight is not over, not by a long shot.

If Boehner ultimately follows through with this promise and either submits an amnesty bill or declines to defund Obama’s impending amnesty through the budget bill, House conservatives must fight Boehner’s Speaker nomination on the floor in January.

We all understand that the lonely few dozen conservatives feel powerless to stop Boehner. But just 30 members can block Boehner from winning 218 votes on the House floor. Those who are concerned about creating chaos on the House floor should focus on the chaos Obama and Boehner are creating for our future of our country by allowing this lawlessness to continue.

Game on. Conservatives will be watching.

That is what I told someone a couple of days ago. Don’t expect much because the same people are in the same positions.

Looks like Republicans are going to be totally demoralized by election day 2016

With the loser mentality found here on FR, I would guess so!

The 'Conservatives' on FR were the first to say the GOP wasn't going to win in the election.

Now they want to say that it wasn't really a win because this bill or that bill is going to get passed.

How many times have we heard about the Amnesty Bill that never seems to get passed!

How about waiting for something to actually happen before attacking the GOP!

Exactly!

But the 'doom and gloom' crowd on FR can't wait to nullify the last election!

Your own words condemn you on this thread, but go ahead and lie to your self, I’m sure it helps when you have to look in the mirror.

As to ‘giving the GOP leadership an opportunity’ to eft up????? We have a history to glean from as well as their current public statements and actions to verify the fact that Conservatives have ALREADY been *effed* and betrayed by the Ruling Class Oligarchy.

People like you will always and forever make excuses for the Establishment and demand everyone continue to support and vote for them in the future.

Conservatism did not win on November 4th. The Ruling Class Oligarchy has already declared that November 4th was a “repudiation of the Tea Party” and said the election was evidence that “Obama has to move to the middle”.

I’m already laughing my ass off at the feeble attempts you guys make to argue ‘give them time’. They have no intention of stopping this tyrannical juggernaut, only massaging it to make it more ‘palpable’ to the masses.

” told me to my face he is not for amnesty”

That’s a word game for the GOPe. They redefine “amnesty” to suit themselves. Dubya claimed he wasn’t for amnesty the whole time that he was trying to force it on us.

Some of them now call it “regularization”. It’s amnesty. They are just lying.

Jeff Sessions may well be the lone patriot left in the Senate.

Why don't you guys stop making predications about the future!

The actions of the current leadership from the past 5 years already tells us what the future is going to be, notwithstanding the public statements of said leadership this past week.

You remind me of the anti-war idiots who tell us that we cannot warn against the dangers of Islam until 'they do something' when we already have plenty of evidence that warrants the warnings.

Conservatives win big and are already ready to whine about losing!

Conservatives did not win big in the eyes of the GOP leadership. Rove has already told us that the wins on November 4th were a 'repudiation of the Tea Party' because Conservatives are 'unfit' candidates to 'win' elections.

So far, the rank and file appear to be as spineless as the leaders they are unanimously nominating for leadership via voice vote in the caucus.

It never seems to get passed, because we and others always raise heck with Congress when it comes up for a vote, including back when Bush was president and the phone lines were melted and they turned their emails off.

Very large protests if I remember correctly

Yes, they also define it as “fixing our broken immigration system” and then proceed to lie to us that they will once again work to make sure the ‘border fence’ they authorized is built.

So they have a wall to sell us now, which is the same thing as a bridge in the parlance of modern political-speak.

You'd like that wouldn't you? You and Tokyo Rove and the host of the Establishment GOP have already suggested that Conservatives are 'dangerous' and prone to violence. You must be on their e-mail list for talking points.

or stfu.

Who the hell are you to give orders? You're a nobody. I'll post what I'm led to post. I frankly don't give a crap that you don't like it.

posting useless revolutionary crap on the interenets doesn’t get anyone anyplace. Right, and advocating blind devotion to a Ruling Class Oligarchy because of their party while making excuses for their statements and actions do what exactly???

You and your party leadership will get us only to one place - and that is the same exact place Obama is taking us already.

take action, or give it up. your act is getting tedious.

Your 'action' is obviously limited to licking the palms of your GOP leadership. Your act is far more tedious and loathsome.

But then I'm no longer on your political plantation as a slave, while you continue to act like one.

c’mon, dude. put up or shut up. revolution, or STFU, coward. conservatives just won a blow out election, and dysfunctional screw ups like you are, for some occult reason, butt hurt about it.

not only do you not belong among conservatives, you probably aren’t functional anywhere, anytime, or with anyone.

you’re a f*ck up. you’re just thankful that al gore invented the internet, because now you can talk to all the other guys in the universe with terminal diaper rash.

c’mon, dude. put up or shut up. revolution, or STFU, coward.

Thanks for the compliment. I love being insulted by party hacks and palm lickers of the Ruling Class Establishment. it's a badge of honor coming from ilk like yourself, truly.

You keep urging 'revolution' - as in violence I am sure.

That said, I am already engaging in revolution, because in an age of universal deceit and tyranny - speaking the truth is a revolutionary act.

And you, like the Oligarchy you support - demand people like me "STFU".

Not gonna happen. Of course I would love to see you actually attempt to get me to STFU, then perhaps we will learn who the real coward is.

not only do you not belong among conservatives, you probably aren’t functional anywhere, anytime, or with anyone.

So you think you have power to define who and what is a 'Conservative' eh? I stand in real good company with people you would state 'do not belong among 'conservatives'.

you’re a f*ck up.

Says the moron who makes excuses for the Ruling Class GOP leadership who is already selling out the Conservatives who voted them into a majority.

People of your ilk continue to practice insanity - yet you have the nerve to say I'm a f*ck up???

Keep licking those palms dude. Maybe one day your chains will earn you a spot carrying Boehner's empty liquor bottles.

this is getting us nowhere.

I do regret saying many of the things that I have said to you in this thread. we should be allies, not enemies.

I apologize for my part of the escalation of enmity, which, many people that I know well and respect, have advised me that I am primarily responsible for.

my apologies.

I still think you are wrong on a bunch of stuff, but I should have handled it better.

So we’ll see if Boehner has the votes.

If he decides to ignore the Hastert rule, sure he has the votes.

“So Boehner is telling Obama that he will have the green light to pass amnesty, but asked for permission to try one more time to pass it legislatively?”

It is not at all what he said, imo. Boehner simply asked Obama to at least wait until a proper bill can be prepared for immigration reform. If that bill cannot be reconciled by both Houses to the satisfaction of the president than as Boehner said Obama can “do what you have to do”. This is not permission since Boehner nor anyone else cannot stop Obama from issuing an EO, any EO on anything. Whether the EO is legal is for the courts to determine.
