FULL TITLE: 'I'm an American Without Documentation': The Trials and Tribulations of an Undocumented College Student

Originally from a small town in Nayarit, Mexcio, Nestor Gomez always had a passion for a career in Engineering that is deeply rooted in his love for the environment.

In most ways, Nestor is like any other college student. However, Nestor is a very ambitious individual. Nestor Gomez is an undocumented immigrant.

The Pew Hispanic Center estimates that 1.5 million undocumented students currently reside in the United States. Of those students, approximately 765,000 arrived in the United States before turning sixteen.

On June 15, 2012, Nestor's situation drastically changed for the better.

President Obama created a new policy calling for deferred action for undocumented youth who came to the United States as children. Individuals who have deferred action status are provided with two years of protection from deportation for childhood arrivals, a work permit and a social security number.

"I don't want to go back to Mexico. I have already adopted America as my country," said Nestor. "In a sense, I'm an American without documentation."

I just found out then when I was a baby, my Parents robbed an Armored Car and got away wit $4 Million Dollars. The money has apparently been in the Attic this whole time. I found out when I turned 18. What should I do?

I had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE THEFT.
CAN I KEEP THE MONEY?? The Money is rightfully mine right??

Not much difference is there

Little Nestor needs to learn definitions better or he will never be an engineer. If he isn’t smart enough to understand so long as he is WOP he is an illegal alien he’ll have a lot of trouble being an engineer.

Silly Nestor.

They don’t have engineering schools in Mexico? Who would have thought?

Nestor’s IQ is lower by at least 50 points from the way he wears his hat.

Has Nestor signed up for Selective Service as he is required by law to do so?

“1.5 million illegal alien students is about equal to the entire population of the State of Idaho.”

And one of them even became President of the United States !

In all honesty you cannot really blame the guy. I blame the US federal government which forces every state to allow all illegal aliens to enroll their children in public schools. After we let them go to school for 12 years and then 4 more years of college we then tell them oh no now you have to go back to a country you don’t even know anymore.

I don’t blame these young kids I blame the US government for not refusing to let them be enrolled in school in first place.

We really do need immigration reform.

1. No school enrollment
2. No job
3. No drivers license
4. No welfare
5. No heathcare

This will result in no illegal immigration. Hence no kids who are duped into believing they are American citizens when they are not.

That's like saying "I'm a European without documentation." It's factually true but that does not mean you get to squat in the UK or France or Germany without permission.

He may be an American due to birth in on the continents of North and South America, but he is NOT a US citizen. He’s a wetback and should be jailed while waiting deportation.

Frankly, I don’t give a rat’s patootie how much he likes school or how talented he is or how long he has been here illegally.

The FACT is that we do not need him, or his talent one bit. We never did, never will. There are thousands, tens of thousands of other American Citizen children out there who hold as much promise, future and DESERVED right to the opportunity. NOT HIM. He stole it. Unless you can tell me he is a prophet, chosen by God to become an American Citizen, then step on off. There are too many other rightfully deserving citizens that need that seat in the classroom.

This is what happens we COWARDS in our government. Every year, these congressional COWARDS and senate COWARDS have “KICKED THE CAN” every year, for the last 40 years. We can still stop this, although it’ll be harder and harder, the longer we wait. PASS A LAW THAT EVERY CORPORATION, COMPANY, OR INDIVIDUAL BE FINED $5,000/ILLEGAL THEY HAVE HIRED. GIVE EVERY CITIZEN $1,000/ILLEGAL THEY TURN IN. NO, THEY CAN’T GO TO COURT, TO FIGHT THE DEPORTATION. I will guarantee you, that within one year, there will be an exodus, leaving this country. Then we won’t be having this discussion any more.

Nothing stopped him from getting his documentation and US citizenship when he turned 18. Yo, Nester, you failed to step up to those responsibilities so don’t blame us US citizens for your failures.

I think to ‘get’ that citizenship, he would have to have had a birth certificate that showed he was born here. Presence here does not equal citizenship.

What the heck are you talking about? You don’t “get” US citizenship if you’re born here. You “get” citizenship by going through the naturalization process.

If the kid considers himself to be an American then get in line and go through the naturalization process as millions have before him . Until then he’s an illegal alien breaking our country’s laws.

CORRECT! My wife is from Mexico. She went to the University of Texas legally and with a student visa. He father paid out of state tuition. She has two degrees and is a computer engineer. She grabbed the American Dream and ran with it. Her English grammar is superior to mine and I am a gringo. She became a naturalized citizen legally. It took years. Her brother has also become a naturalized citizen. It took 19 years for him. None of her family has taken one damn dime of welfare. That is the way immigration is supposed to work.

Her family does not support amnesty. They think the immigrants must get in line just like they did.

Nestor adopted America as his country. Gee golly. Is that all it takes? And you adopted my money to attend classes. I am going to go tell that to my bank manager. “Ron, I have adopted all the money in the vault because I have a love for the environment, now hand it over. “

Sick of these entitlement minded illegals. Just sick of them.

The person who is the subject of the article is NOT “an American” without “documentation”, he a Mexican without “a legal right to be” IN America - a nation that is not his and for which he was never granted legal entry.

This nation does not owe him “documentation”; he owes it his own chosen trip back to Mexico.

You can’t be naturalized if you are a criminal according to the law.
That process can be subverted but he is in fact a criminal, regardless of his circumstances
