Republican Carl DeMaio has lost the race to represent California's 52nd Congressional District, according to the Associated Press. DeMaio, who sought to be the first openly gay Republican elected to Congress, challenged freshman Rep. Scott Peters (D)

The race took a tumultuous turn when a former aide to DeMaio accused the Republican of sexual harassment. Prosecutors later declined to charge DeMaio, who accused his opponent of being behind the allegations.

The other Republican openly gay homosexual candidate, Richard Tisei (MA) also lost.

John Boehner, raised cash and stumped for these candidates. They were also supported by the NRCC. "Our decisions on the Republican nominees we support will not be based on race, gender or sexual orientation, but will be based on the strength of their candidacy and their ability to defeat Democrats," said NRCC spokesman Ian Prior. Both candidates support gay marriage and abortion. Demaio supports judicial activism. Why spend time developing a Republican Platform when it is undermined by the party leadership?

Too bad Boehner didn’t put his support behind Ken Cucinelli(sp?) in the VA Governor’s race, or other conservatives who needed a boost.. Guess they weren’t gay enough to earn that support.

Those two homos are the nose under the tent. Then they would have become the medias go to ‘guys’ when they needed a Republican quote.

Ever so slowly, Republicans will come to realize that running as a liberal republican is the political kiss of death, and there is no winning on that platform.

Boehner could've given some support to Nan Hayworth up in NY, who nearly unseated Sean Maloney, whose only claim to fame was marrying his boyfriend and possibly violating FAA regs by using a drone to take aerial shots of the reception.

...which is another reason NOT to give to the national party but only to individual conservative candidates, or give to PACs that support candidates who are conservative.

The national party had better awaken to the reality of the grass roots not being happy with its hatred of Judeo-Christian ethics.
