Christian Insecurity: The Problem of the Second Coming

The issue of the Second Coming, or Parousia represents the fault line between Christianity and Judaism. According to Judaism the messiah will be validated by fulfilling God's promises, namely Malkhut haShamayim, the Kingdom of God or, Peace on Earth. According to the Christian narrative Jesus will fulfill this upon his return, an event long-anticipated (see Paul; expectations in the year 1000; more recently on the year two-thousand). This long expected Parousia is another source of what I refer to as, Christian Insecurity...

2000 years ago, religious leaders of Israel knew that the Messiah had to come to Israel before Israel lost its scepter (right of self rule). This was based on Jacob's prophecy in Genesis 49 of the Torah:

Genesis 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come ; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. 11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes: 12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.

When Jesus did revel himself to them, they rejected his message and the Word of G-d that prophesied of his coming. As a result, they missed his first coming as a suffering servant (lamb) to take away their sins. Today, as their fathers before them, the Jewish religious establishment are rejecting the Tanakh and unless G-d opens their eyes and their hearts, will miss his 2nd coming in the clouds as prophesied by the Jewish Apostle Paul (Saul of Tarsus). However, this event may lead to one of the greatest Jewish revivals ever with thousands / possibly millions of Jews looking to their Messiah (Zechariah 12, Revelation 7)

What do you mean? “Parousia” is the greek word for the physical return to earth of the Messiah as opposed to the “Episunagoge” which is the meeting him in the clouds.

I’m a 52 yr old catholic and I never heard of Parousia, I didn’t know Jesus was late, I didn’t know I was insecure about it and I thought he would come like a thief in the night. A lot I don’t know I guess.

I do not know Greek either, however you can use an interlinear Bible that gives you the original Greek along side the English. It is quite interesting to see the meanings of the Greek and the English attempt to translate...English/Greek

He fails to recognize that Yah'shua was/is/will always be a Jew.

He did not come to start "Christianly".

He came for the Jew first then the Gentile.

Seems so - mixing Old Covenant with New Covenant will do that. I also get a kick out of how he spells "Jesus" out and spells "God" ad "G-d". Jesus was also 100% God so it seems that convention would make His name be spelled as "J-s-s"...
