Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Thursday blamed frustration with President Obama for the poor performance of Democratic candidates in New York, saying his victory fell short of a landslide because of discontent unrelated to the state.

“This was a real Republican wave that went across the country,” Mr. Cuomo said.

He added that voters were motivated by “dissatisfaction with a Democratic administration in Washington, premised on economic anxiety.”

“And I don’t think anything we were talking about had any relevance, frankly, that would change that one way or the other,” he said on.

Any politician in NY is under fire because taxes are so high while it becomes an economic basket case; Cuomo would rather blame the national situation than admit that tax and spend is hurting Dems in the northeast. Here in NJ Christie could be governor forever because of his willingness to fight the cause of much of our taxes (about 3/4 of the property taxes): teachers’ unions.

As an aside, Cuomo did not do as well as the polls suggested. If polls were more accurate, more NY conservatives might have contributed to Astorino’s campaign.

Wish people wouldn’t takes polls so seriously.

Cuomo did not do as well as the polls suggested.

With all those pricey ads he ran using the $18 million he stole from HUD---the vainglorious idiot thought he was going to be in DeBlabio's territory---maybe a 70 point win.

Blame puny returns on his "charisma" void----looks and detracts like a dried prune.

Cuomo started running those pricey attack ads in the Spring. Obviously Cuomo knew Astorino was a force to be reckoned with.

Too bad Astorino didn’t have more $$ to tell his side of the story. But even with that Astorino would have WON if upstate NY was it’s own state.
