DES MOINES, Iowa Joni Ernst has been elected as the next U.S. Senator from Iowa. The Republican, a state Senator from Red Oak, defeated Democrat U.S. Representative Bruce Braley in one of the nations closest watched elections.
Ernst will fill the seat currently occupied by Senator Tom Harkin. Harkin, who has served in the U.S. Senate since 1985, announced in January 2013 that he would retire at the end of his term in January 2015....

I too am happy for her and US. As a former military officer, she should do a good job. My hopes now are that all these promises made by Republican winners will do what they said they would do.
I know, I sit here behind my computer and when listening to news, etc., what would I do? Instead of carping against everything, I would like to have some good solutions, but everything is so mucked up and so complicated.

And becoming more so the longer it mucks along. They talk about repealing Obamacare, but how? People would be out of insurance, and their former agencies would have no obligation to take them back. Restoring the military would be difficult. Personnel have gone on to different jobs; their skills have faded; there are big shortages in equipment. These are just 2 areas. There may be some areas, that I can’t think of right now, that could be fixed with just the stroke of a pen, but most seem to be so involved that they could only be repaired in slow increments.
