Even if we win the senate, the next two months is going to be an eternity, just watching the evil personified president, work his magic. I would gladly pay for his golf outings if it kept his fingers off of his pen and phone.

Portman said Republican attempts to “do anything significant on Obamacare” probably would meet with a presidential veto, “but there are parts that we can probably change.” …

Most of us are probably thinking that once they win office, well, they probably feel they’ve done their jobs for 2-6 years.
Then their attitude will probably be that we conservatives can go FO until they need our votes and support again.

That’s OK. Back in the early 80s, they were teaching in civics classes that “republic” and “representative democracy” are the same thing.

Possibly. Then again, the “global warming” might bring more blizzards like we just witnessed in some parts of the country already, and that will keep their hands full.

That’s been their attitude during this election. Use dirty tricks to take out real conservatives (the dirtiest of tricks in the case of Thad Cochran) and then laugh at the conservative voters who see no alternative to them.

Watch out for Senator Portman. He's slick, he's the ultimate RINO, and he's stayed on the sidelines. Check his resume. He's a RINO dream. Because he's not tarnished, he can try to position himself as a compromise between RINOs and the Tea Party.

Never forget he opened the floodgates when his first action as a US Senator was to support gay marriage "out of love for his son". He doesn't have a conservative bone in his body. He's not dumb, and he's pretty well informed, so maybe more dangerous than the RINOs who are out front. JMHO

The house can defund it (ObamaCare)

Even better to get some dem votes would be to vote to make it optional. Best way to get rid of it...starve the beast.

You say “not tarnished” and cite examples of tarnishing? What do you mean, then?

By “not tarnished” I mean Portman pulled that stunt about gay marriage and then stayed on the sidelines as it went through the courts, taking the focus off of him. I tell ya’, he’s smart.

They aren’t going to get Obamacare repealed with a Democrat President. But put Obama in a position where he has to veto the Keystone Pipeline, that will leave a mark. This approach makes sense, you have to pick your battles, and get ready for 2016.

This is all hot-air from Portman, and you know it.

When push comes to shove, just like they have for the last 4 years, they are all talk, and fight.

This is the normal GOP-E sales talk to get those who have not paid attention to them, as much as we have, to vote for them.

Just another Lucy, Charley Brown, and the Football episode.

The left has been successful at complaining about the "do-nothing" Congress. And yet in the last 4 years our Republicans in the House have passed 500 pieces of legislation that gets to the Senate where Harried Reid looks at them, sniffs and then hunts for a camera to complain about how the Republican House members are sitting on their hands.

With a Republican Senate, the bottleneck of bills will be laid at the door of the White House and if our side is smart we will make Hussein eat everyone of them.

Whether or not he signs anything, we will need to scream to high heaven at how out of touch he is, how lame duck he is.

I personally believe that Hussein will not sign anything, even when being forced to like Old Slick. Let the fact that he has a pen and refuses to use it become his short term legacy.

Portman was a stalwart in the House for conservatives in the 90s, but like most who ‘graduate’ to the Senate, he suddenly changes to become practical rather than advancing the issues. They’ll punt on any meaningful change to Obamacare because Obama won’t signing it, instead of pushing through real fixes and force Obama to repeal it and scoring political wins. It’s the Dole model that cut into additional wins in the 90s.

“Use dirty tricks to take out real conservatives”

Most of those races were just flat-out lost. Some were due to our side trying to be cute and run too many conservatives.

No one pointed a gun to the voters heads and made them vote for the RINO. We were not owed a primary win just because.

I think what many here are PO’d about is that they underestimated the GOPe as being wimps, and then paid the price when they found out that they fight like Democrats.

That’s our fault. Next time people in primaries better get it early.

And the GOP SHOULD trumpet it. Because they once again got the TEA Party to do their bidding. Fair is fair.

They beat TEA by every definition with the full help of TEA. Two elections in a row.

Yes, I see the dishonesty.

Portman was also part of the McConnell PAC gang that funded Cochran’s fraud in Mississippi against Tea Party Conservative Chris McDaniels and which also led to the wrongful death of Mark Mayfield who was a good guy.

Portman is part and parcel to the McConnell GOPe; He can go straight to F’n hell with the rest of his crony cabal.

“Jobs, lower gas prices, energy independence...

I do not readily condemn this. The Repubs know that they have to get through the lame-duck session first, assuming they win the majority. The name of the game, as I see it, is political expediency. The XL pipeline is a vote that some Dems will gladly or reluctantly sign onto. It is a step toward getting the Dem fence-sitters to turn away from that bahstid Harry Reid. And, it allows for some real movement. These Dems will just let Obama take the blame when he vetoes the bill.

However, the Repubs have got to come through in attempting to repeal Obamacare. As the train wreck of Obamacare plays out, the demand to repeal it will increase. The time to strike with the most velocity will come.

FWIW

The House can defund it. They had that power before this election and chose to cede that power to the executive branch.

Bears repeating...

The House can defund ANYTHING!
Daamned eunuch retards!!
