I usually pop my shirt over my gun when entering the local W-Mart - the male greeter has noticed and given me a grin and a wink. S. MS has its share of nuts but doesn’t seem to have the real nutcases that we read about.
It was several years ago, and I forgot some of the details. But I do remember it was an execution by the hyped up cops.

The best bet when police arrive is once they decide you are not a threat, ask them to contact their dispatcher and notify them that the up-to-then anonymous caller is in fact a “stalker”, who “stalks” legal carry people in the area.
Many jurisdictions have now criminalized “stalking”. Hopefully this will get their cell phone number “red lined” by the police as someone who abuses emergency services.
And police really do not like such people.
From that point, if that person calls 911 to report another carrier, the police will likely gather information about them as a public nuisance. If they do it a time or two beyond that, they will get arrested.
Filing a false claim against someone can cost you an awful lot in a lawsuit.
Calling 911 without a good reason is also against the law.
IF I were in the company of such women, I would probably yell that PMS is on the loose!!
I have to admit this nefarious practice (swatting) is probably the best reason to not open carry, with a preference for discrete concealed carry.
Who’s the greater threat? The criminal thief/armed robber? Or the hoplophobe and his/her willing accomplice on the police force?
Here in Ohio, if you maliciously incite a panic that results in death or injury, you are charged with a felony.
Another GOOD reason why children should have the ‘old classic’ fairy tales read to them.

“The Boy Who Cried Wolf” comes to mind with these false claims and once an area gets to be known for generating these ‘crank calls’, a serious call would be ignored OR not taken quite a seriously.
The LIBS could learn well by reading and heeding “Chicken Little” so that when the day the ‘sky falls’, we won’t be ‘immune’ to it.
Think New Orleans after many ‘false alarms’ in regards to a Cat 5 storm sitting at the mouth of the bay.
When one finally hit, NOBODY was prepared or believed it was going to happen.
Maybe people didn’t want to leave their homes BECAUSE no one was left back to sort of ‘watch over’ the newly vacated homes and the THUGS ransacked them.
