‘Lone Wolf’ terror attacks: We're sitting ducks and Americans with guns are last line of defense
Fox News ^ | October 30, 2014 | John R. Lott Jr.

The recent spate of “lone wolf” terrorist attacks both here and in Canada seem to have come out of nowhere. And it’s clear that they have left Americans and Canadians as sitting ducks.

Simply by using the Internet, ISIS has encouraged “lone wolf” individuals. These “wolves” have initiated attacks on their own with no planning or coordination with others and without leaving a trail of clues about their intentions. Law enforcement authorities and our government are not well suited to defend against such individual terror strikes. As Israel has learned about such attacks, there are just too many targets to defend.

Just learned how to completely disassemble/re-assemble my Ruger Mark II. Little tricky and had to buy a rubber mallet.

Friend just got a moson? Russian ex military surplus. We just shot it. WOW. Was my shoulder sore the next day. And he already replaced the metal butt plate with a honeycomb recoil pad TOO. 7.62 x 54 baby. Went through a sideways 2x4 at 100 yds. Has a giant bayonette on it too. Thing’s like 5’5” standing up.

Ah, yes, the sheep, the wolves and the sheepdogs.

We know who we are...we must remain vigilant!

Indeed, it’s very common for mass killers to already be seeing psychiatrists who fail to identify them as threats to others, including Elliot Rodger (Santa Barbara)...

The others, yes, Rodger, no. His psychiatrist reported him to the authorities as potentially dangerous just before his rampage. The problem was that he'd reached 18 at that time and was empowered to decide to go off his meds, which he did.

Frightening but fascinating case. His manifesto - many here on FR read it - was articulate and unbelievably detailed, and reportedly it took some acquaintance for the poison to bubble to the surface and become obvious. A very disturbed young man from an early age.

Yes they do kick. I have the carbine version (M45) and I guess ‘cause of the short barrel it has a flame like an M60 that lights up range when it is shot at night. Big flash that has startled the other shooters when fired at night.
Very cool to shoot at night gun.

Just learned how to completely disassemble/re-assemble my Ruger Mark II.

If you can do that successfully 5 times *in a row*, you get the grand prize.

He does say ISIS and Terrorist.

It was clear to me that he was talking of jihadists.

But, maybe I should lower his grade to 95 from 99.

It’s a Mosin Nagant, and it’s a damn fine rifle. Get one for yourself and learn how to use it correctly. They’re cheap and so is the ammunition.

No kidding. Buddy of mine bought one years ago. Like an idiot, thinking I knew everything about firearm stripping, offered to tear it down for him.

Major mistake. Got it back together, but geez, the designer had to be a sadist.

My wife's old Colt 1908 Hammerless was the only gun harder to put back together, but then I actually did take that one completely down to the smallest bits.

Mausers from the same time period are also nice. Even after the war, the Yugo M48 and M48A were very nice in 8mm mauser.
