Bucket list cancer patient who planned to end her life has changed her mind
Daily Mail Online ^ | 30 October 2014 | David Mccormack and Lydia Warren

"A 29-year-old terminal cancer sufferer who had previously spoken of her plan to take her life on November 1 has had a change of heart.

In a video released on Wednesday, Brittany Maynard said she hasn't decided when she'll end her life, but it remains a decision that she's determined to make before getting too ill.

‘I still feel good enough and I still have enough joy and I still laugh and smile with my family and friends enough that it doesn't seem like the right time right now,’ she said."

"‘But it will come, because I feel myself getting sicker. It's happening each week.’

Maynard has stage IV glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressive form of terminal brain cancer and in April doctors gave her just six months to live.

The newlywed recently managed to tick visiting the Grand Canyon off her bucket list after previously announcing that it was one place she hoped to visit before she died."

I hope God keeps her alive, just to piss the liberals off!

So glad she changed her mind, though I figured she would.

May she continue to have many more good days... Some people have survived this type of tumor at stage 4. I hope a miracle is in store for this woman, too.

I’m unaware of anyone who has ever survived a megaglioma like this woman has

But she’s not dying or living to suit freeperdom

So I hope she hangs on just a little longer to give folks here something to be themselves over

“...not dying or living to suit freeperdom”

I’m sorry but i have no idea what you’re talking about.

“So I hope she hangs on just a little longer to give folks here something to be themselves over”

wardaddy, I’ve read your comments several times over, but still this makes absolutely no sense to me.

My prayer is that Brittany Maynard-with what little time she has left-will come to know true life in Jesus Christ. Also, that life isn’t valued based on whether or not an individual us “useful” or “healthy”. Life is valuable because we are made in God’s own image, and He is our author and creator. May she and her family know Christs peace and comfort, especially in her final hours.

I know this is too late a reply for this thread, but I can’t stand it.

People, read the article.

“she hasn’t decided when she’ll end her life, but it remains a decision that she’s determined to make before getting too ill.”

SHE STILL WANTS TO KILL HERSELF. JUST DOESN’T WANT TO SET A DATE NOW.

She is not “changing her heart”, only about the date.

rather than extending compassion is striking and sad...I am deeply sorry for that young woman.

Me too. I'm more troubled by the strange FReeper behavior in mocking someone facing death. Callous they are.

She simply wants ‘to escape’ the discomfort of the final blows of cancer.

In rereading my comment, I can see how it comes across as if I didn’t notice that she still plans to kill herself.

But, I did read what she still plans to do. I’m just glad she changed her mind this time. I hope that (and I wouldn’t be surprised if) she keeps changing her mind and delaying suicide until natural death occurs. Maybe a miracle will happen in the meantime.

You are correct indeed. It is always possible she will change her mind completely.

I did not mean to direct the comment at you Tax, just that you were the last to post similarly as so many others.

I knew you weren’t directing it at me only, OlLine Rebel. :-) But, when I saw that my comment was not really clear at all, I wanted to clarify further.

P.S. (For the record, I’m no fan of what this young woman is doing nor the choice she’s making very publicly. I’m worried about where her original plan could lead, and how her story could be used against all of us. JMHO.)

You post was sympathetic to the woman

Rightly so

Amidst the usual snarky lack of empathy

I was lamenting how Freepers too often act

I see. My apologies for the lack of understanding.

I’m guilty of being a smart..., but I was surprised by the absolute disregard for Brittany Maynard’s terminal condition. I don’t support suicide, I don’t respect her decision, but Brittany has a short while to live on this earth. There is no possible way she will live unless there’s a miracle. I have dearly loved ones who have died of cancer including one parent and grandparent. I have sat by their bed side as the disease destroyed their body. My heart and prayers go out to Brittany and her family.

My father died of precisely what is killing her when he was only 64

And like you I was there...in fact I’ve cared for many dying kinfolk in one way or another...my mom...my wife’s people

Its what’s right

There is a mean streak here ...always has been.

Lack of empathy...sarcastic stern callous ladled with copious self righteousness

And the cliques....the harpies are mostly gone....it used to be awful

This forum is a mirror of human nature

Communal like mindedness and serious affection for one another

And some real pricks who seem to know each other but never disclose anything

WE all gravitate to kindred spirits and those we trust here

So tks....very windy and cold in rural TN tonight...measured snow over 2000 foot elevation....mighty early

You stated it well. It truly is what’s right. In all of its pain and suffering, I do find beauty in the sacrificial love for those who are dying. I also see the courage and beauty in our loved ones who face their death with more dignity and resolve than those who wish to sell the alternative.

Winter storm’s heading our way as well. It’s been windy throughout the day/evening. Snowfall above 7000 ft. We’re hoping the weatherman’s wrong on that count. Stay warm, and wishing you and yours a good weekend.

I wish the 39% of the American Citizenry that still thinks Obama is doing a good job would off themselves.
