"I didn't do this to satisfy them. I did it because it was not serving Houston."

Following a barrage of Bibles being sent to the office of Houston Mayor Annise Parker in response to her controversial subpoenas of five pastors to turn over their sermons, the city of Houston has withdrawn those subpoenas.

Please shut up and celebrate the victory . . .

“Shut up”? Seriously? Come on...We can do better than that

I did say "please". . .

I apologize for my breach of manners. It was impatient of me.

(Forgot to copy GeronL the first time.)

“...Big Win For Religious Liberty ...”

Really?

It’s only a win when she’s thrown out of office, and no longer in a position to abuse authority, and KEPT out of office. She’s a Public Servant, and should be reminded of it at every opportunity, loudly and often.

There should have been a thousand people surrounding her office with signs, placard, news cameras, and microphones every day while she was pulling this crap.

This isn’t a “win”. It’s a temporary setback for her and those that think like her.

A great win would be that the mayor faces some consequences for attacking Christian churches.

This isn’t a win. A win would be a religious discrimination lawsuit (she didn’t demand to read the sermons of imams). She never asked to read the sermons of Buddhists (Dalai Lama says the anus is a one way street).

It needs to name her personally (the lawsuit).

You should read my posts. I never “implied” that Parker ever “saw the light”. She saw lawsuit, prosecution, and bad press.

I listened to an interview with the lawyers for the pastors as they were preparing litigation. Just because you’re not privy to their legal counsels actions doesn’t mean the AG was the only one responsible for Parker’s withdrawal, although Abbott’s orders were instrumental in Annise Parker’s decision.

All I am saying is that this is a temporary victory, not something to be blowing up balloons and buying party hats for. That’s all.

Surprisingly, most of the theology presented there is okay. Your problem is that you want to be able to idolize a human figure. God has already taken that option away.

“Abuse of Power, with special considerations for it to be a “HATE” crime???”

The charges get tall and fat, like her calves, with these on her plate...

I didn’t think you needed to be told to “shut up”. It’s a legitimate concern. We don’t need to be shutting down discussion if the fact the left is rotten to the core. Yes, a victory from God and we serve him better through continued vigilance.

A big win for religious liberty would be to KICK HER ASS out in the next election!!
