"I didn't do this to satisfy them. I did it because it was not serving Houston."

Following a barrage of Bibles being sent to the office of Houston Mayor Annise Parker in response to her controversial subpoenas of five pastors to turn over their sermons, the city of Houston has withdrawn those subpoenas.

It was much more than intimidation. It was retribution. She subpoenaed all of the pastors who started the petition drive. You can’t downplay the seriousness of this attack against our Constitutional rights.

She dropped the subpoenas after legal council for the pastors began litigation against Parker’s unlawful actions. She doesn’t have a leg to stand on in court, and with elections coming up, she didn’t want to continue to create more negative media coverage. Parker’s hoping this all goes away. I don’t think it will.

Yes it is so obvious and yet she had the affront to do it and probably lots of support from Dems as well. Hopefully she will not get away with it by just withdrawing - she tried to use her position of power to commit an illegal act and justice, not just her withdrawal, needs to be done!

“Jim wouldn’t allow any Romney praise”

I don’t remember that. I know I can’t post about a certain pro-/anti- topic, and I know a moderator might get peeved a bit for hijacking threads, but restricting praise on Romney? Maybe if it got out of hand and appeared to look like a Romniac invasion of sycophants and astroturfs moving in, but a blanket restriction?

Maybe the moderators will learn the use and strategy of “containment threads”. Junk threads where off beat posts are moved to rather than surreptitiously deleted.

A win would be the removal of the mayor for violating the oath of office and refusal to uphold the Constitution.

Temporary retreat. They’ll be back.

Yes. Underneath outwardly pleasant sociable airs, leftist activist homosexuals are petty, vicious and vindictive tyrants. The hate this criminal holds towards Christians and these pastors in particular, is seething and growing right now.

They will indeed, be back.

Lawsuits and filings of disciplinary actions against the politicians and lawyers involved

This mindset must be defeated at all costs. No more delays.

It's the only way. Bring as much lawfare as you can on them.

I question the validity of her election, considering the massive voter fraud.

She needs to be sent copies of The Constitution too. With the 1st Amendment highlighted.

"I didn't do this to satisfy them. I did it because it was not serving Houston."

Translation: The city's lawyers told her that she was going to lose badly in both the courts of justice and public opinion.

Not sure it is a big win...that should be a no-brainier. I would rather think of this as a BIG FAIL on the part of the Houston Mayor.

To my post: “She didn’t do this voluntarily” (which the article intimates, - I didn’t see the part about the AG going after her)

You answered:”Ah, but she did back off nonetheless”

TX. AG, ABBOT, said:
““Whether you intend it to be so or not, your action is a direct assault on the religious liberty guaranteed by the First Amendment,” Abbott wrote, demanding that the subpoenas be rescinded.

“You should immediately instruct your lawyers to withdraw the city’s subpoenas,” he added.
Late Wednesday, the city issued a statement to the Wall Street Journal: “

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2014/10/16/texas-attorney-general-tells-houston-city-hall-stop-bullying-christians/

So she hardly backed off because she saw the light, as the article - and you? - imply. She knew she couldn’t get away with it - couldn’t get past Abbott.

If not for an AG like Abbott - this would’ve been the first of many more pushes against Christians via the gay/lesbian agenda. There will be MANY more challenges to install acceptance of THEIR way of life upon us all - another one already in motion: transgender neutral public restrooms.

Enjoy the continued dismantling of our society...

Please shut up and celebrate the victory . . .

“Shut up”? Seriously? Come on...We can do better than that

I did say "please". . .

I apologize for my breach of manners. It was impatient of me.
