A black grandmother who dialed in to a C-SPAN call-in program told the host that she voted early this year for Republicans because she is sick of “what the Democrat Party have done to my people.”

The woman, who was identified only as Joyce, called in to C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal” and told host Greta Brawner that she had voted the straight Republican ticket this year before launching into a passionate litany of all that is wrong with the Democrats.

In 1999, many of us Freepers went to DC to attend a dinner in our honor, put on by Paul Weyerich from the Free Congress Foundation. We all stayed about 5 days, holding rallies and picketing in front of the White House. There was a black woman from Texas who attended. Her name was Joyce Smith. She became one of the stars of the week... very inspiring and conveying the same message.

I have to wonder if it's the same Joyce Smith. Does anyone else remember her?

Yes, that’s Joyce, the sage of Sunnyside. She has been calling Houston talk radio for many years. I’ve also heard her call Rush and have seen her as a guest commentator on Fox News during the Clinton administration.

People coming into this world will have some things to deal with, the consequences of their parents' generation's walk on the wild side, that will be very educational.

I've heard it said that what was old will be new again and I predict that "old school" is going to be the next "new" thing.
