Colloidal silver and other Ebola scams: 'Fear opens wallets and closes minds'
The Manchester Guardian ^ | October 24, 2014 | Nicky Woolf in New York

In a game of cat and mouse with health and safety officials, Americans profit off panic with modern versions of snake oil treatments, like vitamins branded ‘Ebola-C’

First of all, Steve Barwick wants you to know that Ebola is a government conspiracy.

“This current ‘Ebola crisis’ is … a massive psy-ops campaign,” he wrote in an (undated) blogpost on his website, The Silver Edge. “In other words, the threat is largely being manufactured and planted into the minds of the American public, through the federal government/news media axis.”

Barwick, to his credit, points out correctly that the likelihood of coming in contact with an Ebola victim is “about zero”. But that doesn’t stop him from quickly moving on to the hard sell.

“Back in 2008, the US Department of Defense (DOD), in conjunction with several other federal agencies, quietly conducted clinical research into the use of silver nanoparticles against Ebola and other hemorrhagic fever viruses,” he claims. “And what they found was astonishing. They discovered that silver nanoparticles were highly effective against these deadly viruses, including the Ebola virus.”

Of course, silver nanoparticles are not highly effective against Ebola – they are not effective at all. Nor is homeopathic rattesnake venom, or oil extracted from sandalwood or cinnamon bark. Nor is vitamin C, in any way other than being simply part of a healthy diet.

But all of the above have been, and are still being sold, both implicitly and explicitly, as preventative measures for Ebola in the US....

If you are so minded, you can go over to PubMed and look for yourself. If there is real research that shows that any of those "alternative" medicines are useful, it will show up in PubMed.

I did not read the article but it is about defeating Ebola virus. I thought others may find this interesting. It's from a link describing just what Ebola virus is.

"The surface of the Ebola virus is covered with glycoprotein (GP) [joined together proteins that contain a carbohydrate as the nonprotein component], which binds host cells, allowing the virus to enter. Ebola is an RNA-based virus, which means its genetic information is stored in RNA, not DNA. Thus, it has to use a special enzyme (an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase [enzymes that catalyze the formation of polynucleotides of DNA or RNA using an existing strand of DNA or RNA as a template])".

I believe that two forms are created. One to distract and occupy the immune system while the other does the dirty work.

source

The description of the glycoprotein intrigued me because I have read of the harm that glycation does. Glycation is not the same as glycosylation. Glycation is

Bonding with yet other protein molecules can occur leading to advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs). There the immune system regards these glycated proteins as foreign and develops antibodies against them and can result in a defective immune system directing antibodies against the host's own tissues. It is thought to be the cause of autoimmune disorders.

The point is: the ebola virus is bad but like all others operates within the confines of biochemistry. It will be defeated. But in the meantime . . . .

(We put men on the Moon in relative short order. We can defeat Ebola and other hemorrhagic diseases.)

collodial silver is a scam on its face....the claims made for it are inherently ridiculous....plus it is contraindicated for lengthy ingestion

Careful of what you wish for. I have been using Curad silver ointment for minor cuts and it works at least as well as triple antibiotic ointment. There have been 2 separate university studies in the last 2 years claiming the use of silver with antibiotics rendered the antibiotics 1000 times more effective. Even effective against MRSA and other resistant bacteria.

If the Ebola virons were laid out nicely on a slide or in a test tube, yes, you could conceivably “kill”/deactivate them with colloidal silver (or a lot of other things). But in the body no way to get the silver particles matched up with the virus particles.

There’s no dispute about silver used topically. Ebola is not a topical disease.

Glycation is bad, which is why methyl doners are so important to help reduce glycation. Vitamin C is a big player in the production of Glutathione and utilization of the various B vitamins, carnosine and NAC. All of these, powerful methyl donors. These would all be useful in fighting a virus, such as Ebola.

I am not familiar with methyl doners. Basically what are they?

N-Acetyl Cysteine is NAC right?

Add milk thistle (silymarin) to that list and it sounds like the detox I take regularly.

Also I've read that the amino acids alanine and histidine make carnosine (L-carnosine). I started looking for source foods but sort of forgot. I understand the carnosine supplements are expensive. It helps break the bonds freeing the protein I believe.

A methyl donor is a substance capable of donating a methyl group ( CH3), such as methionine and betaine, etc. Betaine is tri methy glycine or TMG. It is derived from beets and is very inexpensive. TMG, NAC and Vitamin C are very powerful nutrients because tgey are capable if raising glutathione levels, probably through the process of methylation. Beets have shown the same process, along with AAKG and APL (special types of arginine). Glutathione is responsible for nitric oxide production and, most likely the rate at which we age and how much protection from toxins one has. The formula you mentioned has milk thistle probably because all these processes occur in the liver and milk thistle has shown to improve liver function. FYI, dessicated liver tablets are very powerful liver enhancer, as well and are less expensive. Many docs, I believe are incorrect, believe that we are too methylated. If that was true, we would not need pain meds or antiinflammatories because we would have very little inflammation and thus live a long disease free life, since, arguably, uncontrolled inflammation is what leads to all disease processes. I hope you find thid beneficial.

In Great Health,

“There’s no dispute about silver used topically. Ebola is not a topical disease.”

Silver, as many other metals, works by interfering with various bacterial enzymes, but it is not medically effective in killing bacteria. A 2010 study reported that silver ointments showed little or no effect in healing topical wounds when compared to the same ointment without silver, and silver did not increase the effectiveness of antibacterial ointments either.

The effect of silver was shown to be so minimal as to be of essentially no effect.

“Many docs, I believe are incorrect, believe that we are too methylated.”

I think a major concern with methyl radicals is the methylation of DNA and RNA, which can impair correct protein production or even block it.

I believe the danger of methyl radicals is only prevalent in the absence of inflammatory pathogens such as, environmental toxins. For instance, methyl donors are critical in the fight against cancer and more benign ailments, such as asthma. Arguably, we live in a much more toxic world, and thus, the probability of DNA damage, due to methyl radicals, is far less than the damaging inflammatory effects of glycation.

Enzymes, in theory, are crucial in methylation balance, which inturn can play a role in the production of methyl radicals and glycation, for that matter. The key to health, healing and the prevention of disease is striking that balance and sometimes, the art and spirit of healing is just as important as science.
