Gunman Suspected of Killing Two Deputies in Custody

The suspect who allegedly shot and killed two deputies and shot one other Placer County deputy is in custody.

He will be booked into the Placer County Jail after he is medically cleared, according to Placer County Sheriff's spokeswoman Dena Erwin.

He is being identified as 34-year-old Marcelo Marquez.

The lead sentence makes it sound like he killed 3 deputies. Just to clarify, the Sac. Co. deputy is dead. The citizen who refused to give up his car was shot in the head, but is undergoing surgery. No word on the condition of the two Placer Co. deputies.

Oh my God, Deputy Michael David Davis, Jr., was the second deputy killed today by this piece of filth. Irony of irony, his father Riverside police officer Michael David Davis Sr. was killed in the line of duty on this very day 26 years ago!
