Putin lashes out at U.S. as warmonger that has 'deformed' world order

Russian President Vladimir Putin lashed out at the United States on Friday, accusing Washington of provoking armed conflicts and undermining global security in a quest to lord its power over the rest of the world.

In a 40-minute speech that mixed harsh criticism with veiled warnings against trying to oust the Russian bear from its role as “master of the taiga,” or boreal forest, Putin cast his nation's former Cold War nemesis as an aggressive force responsible for much of the violence racking the world today.

“They are throwing their might to remove the risks they have created themselves, and they are paying an increasing price,” Putin said, referring to conflicts in Libya, Syria and Iraq that have flared with new intensity.

The Russian Bear Putin speaks like a true commie. Accuses everyone else of doing exactly what he actually IS doing.

We haven’t “lorded” our power over the rest of the world in a long time. If only we had. It’s too late now.

Is all this staged... political theater?

Is it part of an Obama/Putin setup now that Obama has “more flexibility?

Fake Superpower fight resulting in New World Order?

So it is Russia, and not the U.S., that attacked Libya, Iraq and is now dropping bombs in Syria?

Putin stirs trouble like the Soviets always have - via proxies. Then stands back and whines “Who me?”

re: “So it is Russia, and not the U.S., that attacked Libya, Iraq and is now dropping bombs in Syria? “

Dropping some bombs and firing some missiles is one thing. Actually being “in control” where nations cooperate willingly with us in order to stop real aggression is quite another. Our foreign policy has been inconsistent for 30 years. We lost our moral high ground long ago.

W Bush had some of that type of cooperation during his part of the Iraq war, but then it was squandered by Obama who has projected weakness and a U.S. willingness to withdraw from the world stage. Power abhors a vacuum. When we withdraw, someone else takes its place. Usually people who don’t like us and aren’t very nice.

Obama has supported those who hate us, hate American ideals and republican form of government. Heck, he hates those things too.

Obama has given support and aid to those who also hate Israel, the one true democratic nation in the Middle East. Obama has left our allies high and dry. No one trusts us anymore.

Putin has never hidden the fact that he wants to restore the Russian regime. He KNOWS what he wants to do and he will get it by force if he thinks he can get away with it. He projects force for conquest. We used to project a force for good in the world. No more.

That’s what I meant when I said we have not lorded our power in the world for a long time - yes, our military is still the envy of the world. We can still throw a lot of hardware and weapons at enemies, but our ability to inspire other nations to follow our lead is gone. Our military is weakening, it is being destroyed from the top down.

Absolutely spot on.

The State Department and this administration are loose cannons, with zero intent to follow through and provide support in those areas “WE” destabilized.

Russia gets 90% of its revenues from oil & gas, the prices for which are now tanking. Russia’s debt is now only one notch above junk status.

Plus, Russia’s extensive propaganda efforts to convince the world that it wasn’t responsible for shooting down that plane have convinced no one.

So, Putin is getting a little frustrated.

Really? Who led the Iranian people to believe we would support their insurrection and then let them die, needlessly in the streets and into a forced retreat?

Was there some noble reason to end our decades long with Hosni Mubarack? What was the result? The Muslim Brotherhood was the preferrable alternative?

Qhaddafi was a murderous but, fthabulouth dresser and who runs the place now?

Overthrow an opthomologist?

Each of these guys were horrible for sure but, They Kept the Peace in their part of the world.

Now we have no relationships that are friendly to us and none we have any influence that is accretive to peace, unity or What everyone perceived as Americas indispensability for world peace.

We already had a full plate with Crapgahnistan and Iraq.

We then added four more countries to our list of things to do and put Yemen, a major port for refueling our ships and Jordan, Switzerland land of the Middle East in jeopardy.

WTF for?

All we did was open the possibility for chaos, which didn’t exist and a vacuum for Jihadist wannabes to grow their frickin armies.

Further, we enabled Iran greater levity to fund terrorists.

Finally, Israel? We put Israel in danger with this horse crap?

Who is a better friend to the the USA than Israel?

What happens if Israel is attacked en masse from these plicks?

They are a bit outnumbered but, why should we have created a situation where one more Jee has to die?

Who’s freaking side are we on?

And don’t get me started with Erdogan and Turkey’s duplicity in their relationship with us and as a NATO member.

Obama has been exceedingly unwise in Russia/U.S. relations. Now he thinks by punishing the entire population with sanctions he can force his gay politics on them. I think it is unwise to ignore how newly minted their system is and how easy it would be (and has been) for them to slip back into old ways.

I do not believe Obama really cares about Ukraine. It is a cover to bully Russia. He is playing with fire.

I am not saying Russia is right on Ukraine. But there is a complicated history between them that we cannot pretend does not exist. All we have done is fuel the flames, imo.

You have to be joking. We've never inspired much other than a lot of back-biting even among our so-called allies. It's the way of the world. We've been military welfare provider to the world for about 70 years. Military welfare, like social welfare, engenders contempt among the recipients of the largesse. Heck, between WWI and WWII, we sacrificed 500K mostly young Americans, and all that Europe had to say about it was to accuse the US of being cowardly misers who jumped in late.

Talk to any ordinary European, and he will tell you about how Russia really beat the Germans. What these morons don't realize is that without Russian aid to the Germans, there might not have been a WWII. Heck Russia fought Germany only because it was invaded. Prior to that, Russia divided up Poland with Germany and signed a non-aggression pact, while providing Germany with logistical support for its invasion of the West.

Patton was right - in principle - in wanting to go on to Moscow. The problem was practical - it would have cost hundreds of thousands of American dead.

There are times when it is difficult to determine whether Obama or Putin is the worst. My vote would go to Obama because he has the most impact on us Americans. However, Putin has turned into, or likely he always has been, a sleezeball commie dictator responsible for the deaths of thousands over the past year alone. What a POS. Make that two POSes.

He’s just on the rag because the price of oil is down. Like his pals the Arabs, that’s about all his country is able to export in any quantity.

So Russia invaded Ukraine because of Obama's gay politics? The mind boggles. Note that Bush sent military supplies to Georgia in USAF airplanes to warn Putin not to annex the entire country, which he appeared to be in the process of doing. The problem with Russia is that the Russian people are unreconstructed imperialists, because unlike the Germans and the Japanese, they hadn't seen 5%-10% of their population killed during an industrial scale war that saw enemy troops occupy their capital. It's got nothing to do with either Obama or Bush, who merely engaged in the normal give-and-take of competitive diplomacy. Russia's revanchist and irredentist streak will probably lead to a future war that either results in (1) a Russian-ruled Europe or (2) a Western-occupied European Russia and a Chinese-occupied Russia east of the Urals.

Where are you getting your information about general animosity of Europe toward the USA? I think it is just untrue rumors many are glad to repeat for their own reasons. When you look at the opinion polls, then USA is well liked in Europe.

Here are recent poll results. Regrettably I have forgotten where I got it from, but I think it was PEW research.

That would be most other countries in the world. I'm pro-Israel because of the alternatives. The question to ask is who is a better friend of Israel than the USA. It wasn't India that went to Defcon 3 during the Yom Kippur War to warn the Russians against a direct intervention. I can't think of a single instance, major or minor, where Israel has placed its troops in danger alongside GI's and sustained losses. Britain (Korea, Gulf War I, Afghanistan, Gulf War II), New Zealand (Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War I, Afghanistan, Gulf War II), Canada (Korea, Gulf War I, Afghanistan, Gulf War II), Australia (Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War I, Afghanistan, Gulf War II) and even Ukraine (Afghanistan, Gulf War II) have all done so.
