A young man waiting at a traffic light in a car with his girlfriend was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon after men in an adjacent vehicle asked him where he's from.
The victim and his girlfriend remain unidentified, but were riding in a black Infiniti in the Rosemead neighborhood of Los Angeles at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday when they were fired upon. The two men in the vehicle that appeared next to them at the traffic light reportedly asked the victim where he was from, the girlfriend told KTLA. The victim responded, “nowhere" and then shots rang out, fatally wounding the man. The girlfriend ducked in a panic and was not hit.

I drive that area from time to time late at night. I am very aware of my surroundings when I do. If I pull up next to a car at a light, I’m checking it out.

This is the second vehicle murder in the last four months in that area. Just driving down the wrong street at the wrong time...

It seems to me that installing bullet resistant glass on just the driver’s side window might be a good idea, as long as you drove in the right lane.
Bizarre story. Was it a carjacking attempt, a case of mistaken identity, etc. Or was it just some fool thinking he was “disrespected” when the victim wouldn’t answer his question?
Either way, poor guy. Stories like this just make me SMH.

No, just California. This is normal there. Surprised it’s
even in the news. That’s California for you. Not as bad
as New York, yet.
What is the correct answer to “Where you from?” ?
(And what is the correct punctuation for asking a question about question?)

Low rent area with high minority (Hispanic/Asian) demographic. I used to live in the next city north of there, which used to be middle-middle class population, but now is mow mostly Asian Immigrant.... LA area is one huge 3 world balkanized area.
When I left the LA area I took the flag and turned out the lights.
I had 25 glorious, beautiful, happy, fun-filled years in CA, lived 10 years at the beach in LA, my teenagers could go to bonfire parties on the beach at night with NO WORRIES. They were perfectly safe. It was really the California Dream.
Today, adults who walk anywhere that beach even in daylight are NOT smiling and neither are their Doberman Pincers.
WE lost CA years ago, and it’s a tragic loss.

To me, not sure how to defend myself in this situation. You shoot first, you are going to be the instigator. It is not noted whether the couple saw a gun, before said gun was discharged at them, so we can more than likely assume the gun wasn’t presented until it was used.
I think the only real protection for this scenario was a bullet proof car, windows up, don’t speak to the people in the car next to you at the light.
Even on adrenaline, I am not fast enough to counter a sneak attack like that. It’s basically an ambush. The only way out of an ambush is first armor to reject the initial attack, and then you can deploy heavy weaponry. Or given that this was an infinity G3x more than likely from photos, see if the bastard can catch me before I get to an area with police presence.
A lot missing from this story...was the victim a Democrat or a decent person?
