Report: At least seven black witnesses have corroborated Darren Wilson’s testimony before grand jury
Hot Air ^ | October 22, 2014 | Allahpundit

An addendum to Ed’s post this morning. Per WaPo, it’s not just the forensic evidence that’s backing Wilson up.

[M]ore than a half-dozen unnamed black witnesses have provided testimony to a St. Louis County grand jury that supports Wilson’s account of events of Aug. 9, according to several people familiar with the investigation who spoke with The Washington Post.

Some of the physical evidence — including blood spatter analysis, shell casings and ballistics tests — also supports Wilson’s account of the shooting, the Post sources said, which cast Brown as an aggressor who threatened the officer’s life. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they are prohibited from publicly discussing the case…

Benjamin L. Crump, a lawyer for the Brown family, said Brown’s family and supporters will not be persuaded by the autopsy report or eyewitness statements that back Wilson’s account of the incident…

Exactly how high Brown’s hands were has been inconsistent in the accounts, and at least one witness said that after Brown was shot, he appeared to take a step toward Wilson. That witness said, however, Brown had his arms around his stomach before hitting the ground.

The Post doesn’t specify which details from Wilson’s account were supported by the witnesses (none of whom want to be named, of course, lest they face reprisals for being honest). Did they corroborate the fight in the front seat of the squad car when, Wilson claims, Brown grabbed his gun? The physical evidence supports that too: One forensic pathologist who reviewed the autopsy report noted that Brown’s hand wound wouldn’t have had gunpowder particulate in it unless his hand had been on or right next to Wilson’s gun. Two shell casings were also found in Wilson’s squad car, per the Post, supporting the fact that the gun was discharged twice inside the vehicle. Or did the witnesses corroborate the fatal shooting later, after Brown had moved away from the car and Wilson had gotten out? That’s what the case will turn on: If Wilson ends up being indicted, prosecutors will argue that, yes, Brown might have reached for Wilson’s gun but the subsequent shooting was unnecessary. Brown was already wounded; Wilson was shooting out of rage, not to repel a mortal threat.

Realistically, though, how likely is it that he’s going to be indicted at this point? Crump says he has seven witnesses who’ll say that Wilson gunned Brown down unjustifiably. Great, says the defense, we have seven witnesses who say the opposite plus a pile of forensic evidence that shows Brown, who’d just committed a robbery at the local convenience store, not only assaulted a police officer but attempted to seize his firearm. There’s little doubt, barring some bombshell evidence that the public doesn’t know about, that Wilson’s not going to be convicted. The question now is whether he’ll be charged. One theory for all the leaks lately is that law enforcement is trying to prepare the public for the fact that grand jury is unlikely to return an indictment, but I don’t know: Given what Crump said in the excerpt above plus protesters vowing that “it’s going to be a war” if Wilson isn’t charged, sounds like releasing the evidence early isn’t going to calm anyone down. On the contrary, it may be that this is being leaked because Wilson supporters fear that he’ll be unfairly indicted anyway for political reasons, even though there’s no probable cause to think he murdered Brown. That’s probably the outcome city leaders would prefer — indictment followed by acquittal so that they can say the system took the incident seriously enough to force Wilson to defend his actions in open court. Think that result would calm people down? Me neither.

One more odd detail from WaPo’s story: “The Post sources said the levels in Brown’s body may have been high enough to trigger hallucinations.” Er, okay, but isn’t the fact that Brown had just apparently committed a crime minutes before Wilson rolled up a more likely explanation for why he got aggressive? He had obvious reasons to fear police scrutiny at the time. Reefer madness seems like an odd theory of the case.

One of these TV journalists needs to interview Crump and ask:
1) Is it proper for a grand jury to indict any potential defendant when the evidence seems insufficient to produce a conviction?
2) Who are the seven witnesses you say provide proof that Wilson “murdered” Brown? Name them for us now.
3) Did those witnesses give statements to investigators?
4) Did they testify to the Grand Jury?

Let’s see — Dorian Johnson, 4 people who got their stories from Dorian Johnson, and 2 muslim community activists who weren’t there but know what all these white cops do. Or maybe Dorian Johnson counts as 7 all by himself, given the diversity of his reports.

Keep in mind that all of the information given to the grand jury is also being given to DOJ for the investigation into civil rights violations. I believe the leaks are coming from government officials, not grand jury members.

“Well they’d better flush the little cockroach out. Credibility is a precious thing to a ‘news’ organization, it wouldn’t take much to shatter it. “

It doesn’t matter anymore. There’s a world of people out there who don’t even know of the events in Ferguson.

If any of these race-baiters really cared about these abandoned black “yutes”, they would call for town hall meetings in ghettos all over the land, and explain to these unparented and ignorant teens what the rules are when interacting with police and the basics of the law.

It is possible that they really do not know or understand the basics regarding the rule of law, as they have been misled by the “pimpers” for years.

They should start with the pre-teens, using local police officers, prosecutors, and judges. I

n simple terms, caring adults could explain exactly what will happen to them if they “diss” the cops, and why the cops will shoot them, then why they will be prosecuted and judged.

Then they could call in the prison officials to explain the gritty realities of what happens in jail.

It is a tough job, but if their parents are not going to do it, someone has to, or else our inner cities are going to be unmanageable.

LBJ destroyed the black family structure, neighborhoods and local businesses, and the dems will never admit what a failure their “war on poverty has been.

It succeeded only in depriving blacks of their intelligence, opportunities, morals, and their very souls.

The end result of this lunacy will be horribly ugly for all of us. Think of all the innocent lives corrupted by a failed policy, formulated only on gaining political power for those seeking office.

I fear we have passed the point of no return, and the riots are inevitable. I pray that I am wrong.

Here's what happened. Brown, high on weed, was sauntering brazenly down the middle of the street with criminal buddy Johnson. Along comes Officer Wilson in his patrol car who sees two idiots walking down the middle of the street blocking traffic.

Officer Wilson pulls up alongside the dimwit duo and tells them to get their a...s back on the sidewalk in a terse tone of voice. Johnson, who is little more with it than Brown, takes off. The 6'4, 300 lb Brown who had just showed a 5'5 120 lb storekeeper who was the tough guy, decides he doesn't have to take any crap from some white motherf..... cop. So he continues walking down the middle of the street.

Wilson stops the car and starts to get out. Before he gets all the way out of the car Brown charges at Wilson wildly swinging his fists knocking Wilson back into the car. He jumps on Wilson and reaches for Wilson's gun. Wilson gets it out first and tries to shoot an enraged Brown who Wilson thinks has gone crazy. Wilson gets a few shots off hitting Brown in the hand and a non-vital part of Brown's body which fails to calm Brown down.

Brown retreats ten or so feet from the car, then seeing the bruised and (what he thinks is) disoriented Officer Wilson, charges meaning to get the gun and finish off the white, motherf..... pig. Wilson, however, is still conscious, and manages to fire six or more rounds hitting the charging Brown six times one shot ripping into Brown's skull killing him. One less ghetto thug in America. That's the way I see it.

Good point. That would send a message to all the plantation slaves to stray no longer.

We're the plantation slaves. Thanks to the welfare state and the accompanying taxes, some portion of our work is corvee labor to keep these parasites fed, clothed and housed.

Brown’s family and supporters will not be persuaded by the autopsy report or eyewitness statements that back Wilson’s account of the incident…

even if they had video showing Wilson was 100% truthful in his statement sand reports the Brown family would still not be satisfied until Wilson was in prison for murder.

I bet that is almost exactly what happened. Far, far too many black youth only understand violence and racism.

The only solution I see is for the appropriate authorities to declare an emergency and physically control the TV stations and radio stations. This business of having broadcasters inciting riots has to stop.

Benjamin L. Crump, a lawyer for the Brown family, said Brown’s family and supporters will not be persuaded by the autopsy report or eyewitness statements that back Wilson’s account of the incident…

Certain black 'leaders' and groups have decided that this case, along with Trayvon Martin, will both go down in the annals of historical black grievances and nothing will change their minds. It's already a part of black history. Evidence, smevidence. It don't matter.

When I listened to the semi-literate lawyer Crump, I found it hard to believe he is an attorney. Don’t you have to be able to talk? This guy makes Sharpton sound like an orator.

Crump on Megyn Kelly tonight making NO sense. He was trying valiantly to hold the original meme together ... finally, with Megyn reading the autopsy report, he veered away and dissembled to a complaint of the grand jury isn’t doing things the “traditional” way. He said the prosecutor usually TELLS the grand jury the charges and evidence .... seems to have great difficulty in the grand jury being presented the actual EVIDENCE and making up their mind if they want to indict. He would be pitiful if he didn’t continue to advance a false meme that stirs up racial violence.
