I thought the weapon looked odd, especially if it was purported to be a double barrel shotgun. Looks like an exposed hammer... And a large front sight. Seemed odd.

But now I wonder if those might not be artifacts within the photo of background behind the gun. The thing that looks like a hammer might just be something on the keffiyeh scarf, not the gun, and the same with the spot that looks like a sight on the end of the barrel. It might just be a dark spot on the wall behind the gun. At that resolution it’s difficult to say. Without those features the gun could easily be a double barrel shotgun.

The killer in Quebec was a white guy named Martin Rouleau. Canada seems to have a problem with white converts to Islam.

(I’m still thinking this one may be a garden variety nut, not necessarily a Muslim nut, just a nut, but I could be wrong).

Together with all of Canada, Sharon and I are shocked and deeply saddened to learn of today's attacks.

At this most difficult time, we wish to express our deepest sympathies to the family of the Canadian Armed Forces member who was killed in this crisis. Our thoughts and prayers also go out to those who were injured today.

Someone should tell Abu that there’s no terror in Canada. There’s a dead perp and a lot of pissed-off Canadians. Abu should watch a hockey game to see what happens when Canadians get pissed off.

Expect Obama to phone the “President of Canada”.
After they round up a Canadian translator.

LOL!

“That would be awesome LOL- especially as it would remind Canadians that Daddy invoked it for the first time since WWII.”

LOL. Exactly. Junior will have to do some tap dancing!

Looks like a lever gun to me. He is holding his 2 smaller fingers outside the lever to give him more purchase on it for quick actuation.

Caliber? Who knows. 30-30 is most common but there are a bunch more.

Kevin Vickers, the sergeant-at-arms in charge of security on the Parliament Hill, shot down
an armed gunman inside the Centre Block as MPs attended caucus meetings,
multiple reports say.

Standing 6-foot-4, and powerfully built, Kevin Vickers wears an antiquated-looking
uniform, and carries a ceremonial sword and the Mace for the opening and closing
of the Chamber each day. Here, he concludes the session on March 25, 2011.

Before the Charter Of Rights, Parliament was supreme. It could make any law.

The Charter of course imposed new limits.

The man police say deliberately drove a car into two soldiers in a “despicable act” the government linked to terrorist ideology had been arrested by RCMP this summer, a spokeswoman for the federal police force said Tuesday.

Monday’s deadly attack on a Canadian soldier in a Quebec strip mall was “clearly linked to terrorist ideology,” Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney said earlier Tuesday.

“It is an unacceptable act of violence against our country, our Quebec values, our Canadian values,” he said in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, the town southeast of Montreal where 25-year-old Rouleau allegedly mowed the soldiers down with a car.
