In a bad sign for the future of security in Baghdad, ISIS forces are apparently close enough to the center of the Iraqi capital that they are firing mortars which are landing inside the heavily fortified Green Zone.
Officials in Baghdad confirmed on Tuesday that two mortars landed within 500 meters of the United States embassy in the Green Zone. That portion of the city houses Iraqi government facilities as well as American and British diplomatic installations. ISIS militants on Twitter reportedly claimed credit for striking targets inside the Green Zone moments after the attack.
If only.
Brilliant move on Obozo's part to remove (or cede) all of our military assets in Iraq.
Bush won the war, then Obama lost it. Tell me again why all our soldiers died over there? If I was a gold star parent I would be more than just enraged.
Sounds like a mission for the Predator.
Wait til our people are captured and beheaded on TV. Baghdad will fall—the Iraqi people no longer believe in the two headed monster we tried to build to rule the hodgepoge nation built by England. It will be the new Capital for the Calaphate.
Oliver North was on Greta or Megyn Kelly’s show last night saying that he thinks and has gotten agreement from his contacts that Kobani is a deception operation while ISIS prepare for an assault on the US Embassy. Possibly a massive suicide attack, but one with vehicle bombs and an assault to give type of moral victory over the US and Obama that came to the VC/NVA from Tet.
Of course, ISIS intends to take the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad — and behead anyone they capture.
And North said not to be surprised if the attack came on Nov 2 or 3.
Hodgepodge is right. Actually none of the present day so-called countries in the M.E. region are ‘real countries’, they were all artifically drawn up on the map by the Brits and French, except Egypt and Iran. Caliphates in Iraq have a long history too. They’ve come and gone. I doubt this will be a long lasting Caliphate should it ever be established.
Probably using weapons we gave them or “accidently” air dropped to them instead if Iraqi Army forces.
That’s why I don’t understand why we got so worked up about Saddam going into Kuwait, it was just an intra-Arab issue. Why was it our business?
And after the recents reports in, of all places, the NYT of us knowing and finding WMD’s while the Bush admin hushed it up (Rove has blood on his hands) they should be more enraged.
Too right. It was a mistake in my view too. But think Saudi Arabia and our oil interests; SA likes the Americans to do the dirty work for them. Don’t the Saudis have a military of their own? Can’t they do anything to defend themselves except to fund and spread radical Islam (aka ISIS) now, along with their satellites in the Gulf? Qatar comes to mind too.

Thanks for posting this.
Seems like this latest ISIS action has been ignored by our Obama Mediots.
“When will we get to see pictures of helicopters evacuating the Embassy, this week or next?
‘Let’s see. When is the election? Two weeks? I’m guessing some time after that.”
Yep, just think of Benghazi and the attacks on our station before the 2012 election.

I think a Tet-style attack against the embassy is a good model, with a series of car and truck bombs leading the way for the infiltrators already in position.
The fact the impact points are spread out also indicate rockets rather than mortar.
What’s the significance of Nov. 2 or 3?
Good point.
