Ebola patient Nina Pham’s dog will be tested for the deadly virus, Dallas officials said Sunday, ending uncertainty about measures to ensure public safety before the King Charles Spaniel is released from quarantine.
The dog, named Bentley, was moved to an undisclosed location Oct. 13, two days after his owner tested positive for Ebola.
Though Bentley has exhibited no symptoms, he will be placed in a special kennel Monday for the first in a series of feces and urine collections. The samples will be tested for Ebola at an unidentified lab.

Bentley is an adorable little pooch I hope he is going to be OK..when Nina is released from the hospital she is going to want to be reunited with her four legged friend

Shitzu’s a very cute dogs. Bentley is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I happen to have one ( rescued from an animal shelter ). They’re quite friendly and not noisy.
Mine isn’t noisy at all unless someone or something comes too close to the fence. He has a bark that sounds like a Great Dane on steroids!.......................

Are they making an attempt to track down other dogs that Bentley was known to associate with?
Symptoms did not develop in any of these highly exposed animals during the outbreak, a finding that tends to support antigenic stimulation, asymptomatic, or very mild Ebola virus infection. Wild animals, especially gorillas and chimpanzees, can also be infected by Ebola virus, but the infection is highly lethal and causes huge outbreaks and massive population declines (5,14). Other animals such as guinea pigs (15), goats (16), and horses (17) remain asymptomatic or develop mild symptoms after experimental infection, but Ebola virus infection has never been observed in these species in the wild. Thus, dogs appear to be the first animal species shown to be naturally and asymptomatically infected by Ebola virus. Asymptomatic Ebola infection in humans has also been observed during outbreaks (18) but is very rare. Although dogs can be asymptomatically infected, they may excrete infectious viral particles in urine, feces, and saliva for a short period before virus clearance, as observed experimentally in other animals.
So, you don't want him licking your face if there's any chance he's been exposed to Ebola recently.
It will be interesting to learn if Bentley (1) has the virus or (2) antibodies for it.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
