It's looking like a tough offyear election for Democrats, with their Senate majority at serious risk and their chances of gaining House seats down toward zero.
Every party has a bad offyear sometimes; Republicans did in 2006. Sooner or later they recover. But in the crosstabs of polls and in party strategists' moves I see evidence that one group Democrats have been counting on is moving away from them: Hispanics.
Hispanics voted 71 percent for Barack Obama in 2012, 20 points above his national average of 51 percent. According to Gallup, Hispanics' latest Obama job approval has sunk to 44 percent, just 3 points above the national average.

90% of blacks will vote democrat because they’re directed as such by their favorite pro athlete, rapper and “Rev. Big Mouth” at their local church. No matter what the disasters wrought on them by democrat policies, the Ds will always count on the black vote. A black lady — someone whose personal philosophies rest far on the conservative side — reflexively votes democrat. I asked why she doesn’t opt for a change in direction, and her reply: “we vote that way because it’s just part of what we do.”

Getting a bit difficult to round up the Hispanics onto the Democrat Plantation - ehhh.
But the Democrats BETTER HURRY. Their huge base of FDR/JFK Democrats, the ones that could never, ever, vote Republican, and would continue to vote Democrat, even under threat of having to watch their children being raped and tortured - those Democrats are quickly dieing off. The black vote isn’t getting any better for them either, as the Democrats are too busy aborting black kids to see how it’s hurting them demographically.
The newer Democrats, including Hispanics, don’t have that blind attachment the above groups have. For the kids, they’ll vote for Rand Paul in a heartbeat, as he speaks their language regarding Internet privacy and drones. For Hispanics, they see the decadence of the Democrats today with regard to social issues and how they attack small businesses, and they will vote Republican as long as Republicans are careful not to stick their feet in their mouths...as they always seem to do.
For Hispanics, and polls show this, BORDER SECURITY works with them. They DO NOT like open borders - they know what’s down there and prefer to keep it there. They connect with conservatives on that issue. Regarding Amnesty and what to do with the ones here...we do have a divide - they prefer to see them be allowed to stay here, while conservatives (me included) prefer to see them go home. But Hispanics do not stick Amnesty at the top of their list and will pretty much tolerate conservative positions on the issue, as long as we don’t use derogatory language and threaten to round them up in public. All we need to do is slowly make life uncomfortable for Illegals (by taking away the goodies) and they’ll start packing their bags.
After all Boobamba did for the lowlifes? Turning our bright shining country w/ a sacrosanct rule of law into a contaminated Third World crap-hole---to make the money-grabbing parasites feel at home.

Murguia demanded amnesty and said the road to the White House for Republicans goes through the Latino community and La Raza. She also said Republicans who want to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program will not get Hispanic votes.
“But but but Juan McCain and Tokyo Rove have been telling us Republicans can never win over the Spanish American vote unless we open our borders and grant amnesty to this who are in the US illegally already - were they wrong?”
Mostly wrong. Hispanics DO NOT like Open Borders, as they prefer to keep the gangs down there. They do prefer Amnesty, and probably because they know people personally that would be deported if that were enforced. But it’s still not on the top of their agenda.
So Rove/McCain are 75% wrong.
Don’t believe this for a second. Hispanics remain 75 percent Democrat and even more in some select places.

Pretty much up to the Republicans not to put their feet in their mouths. If they can avoid that, then enough Hispanics are in play so as to minimize their block-voting influence.
It's already in the demographics of the low-information voters.

Hispanics don’t care that much either way. If they did, we’d already have Amnesty. It’s obvious that the polling showed very little upside by having Amnesty before the election and a lot of downside. Hispanics were set to pretty much sit out this election regardless of what Obama did.
I believe Hispanics do have a high abortion rate but not as high as blacks have.
Amen to that. Until we see it on election day, it's all speculation.

Pretty much hopeless. As long as they look “different” when they look in the mirror, the Dems can hold them with the race card. We may pluck off a few percent, a bit at a time, if we can get them out of that horrific public school system, but that’s about as much as we can hope for.

The Hispanics won’t turn completely away from the Dems as the Republicans will always stick their feet in their mouths. But if they vote 60/40 Dem, or 55/45 Dem, then their influence as a voting block pretty much dries up. That’s our best hope.
If Latinos start trending towards the right you will see the border snap shut.

Miami used to vote 50% for Reagan (while other cities were 25% at best), and it wasn’t their sizable number of blacks doing that. Nor was it their whites. It was their Cubans, who were voting 80% Republican (because of Castro). And when the Cuban boats started coming over in the late 70s, it was the DEMOCRATS screaming about it.

Obviously minorities saw Obama as the great hope to give them a greater voice...2008 was euphoria for them, 2012 was, Ok everybody gets a second chance...
Since pretty much every economic indicator shows minorities are worst off today than in 2008 the kool-aid they have been drinking must be getting pretty stale...
Democrats slowly are losing the locked in vote of minorities...
I think many will stay home rather than vote GOP...thinking "why vote it really doesn't matter after all"
That's why it so important for the GOP to reach out to the minorities communities with conservative ideas and concepts, not liberal light...
