Guest view: Could Ebola patients be helped by Vitamin C?
The Belleville News-Democrat ^ | October 18, 2014 | Dr. Dave McCarthy

It is clear that this is no longer an outbreak of Ebola, it's a breakout of Ebola. We are now living in a post-containment world. Fortunately, this virus has vulnerabilities, and we can quickly improve our immune defense.

When the protective suits and procedures fail to keep Ebola at arm's length, it becomes a fight between the organism and the defense. As there is no vaccine and there are no Ebola-specific drugs, it's time to help Americans understand what can be done.

We have two types of immune defense: adaptive defense, which allows us to utilize preformed antibodies and anti-viral killer cells, and innate defense, which allows us to fight a microorganism we have never encountered. Both defenses are highly dependent upon the availability of vitamin D3. Once summer ends, the levels of D3 begin the seasonal decline and we experience a dramatic increase in viral diseases.

As many patients have learned, measuring and increasing the blood levels of vitamin D3 (25-OH vitamin D) can significantly reduce the incidence and severity of the cold and flu viruses. Unlike those seasonal viruses, we have had no prior Ebola infections, and the ongoing research into Ebola vaccines appears to be a future possibility, but not a current reality. Ebola is one of the enveloped viruses, which are highly vulnerable to cathelicidin. Vitamin D3 up regulates the production of cathelicidin and is central to any strategy seeking to upgrade viral immune system defense.

The formal name for Ebola is Ebola hemorrhagic fever. With fever being the early symptom, the hemorrhage is the late-stage sign that the patient can no longer resist and the immune system capitulates. These terminal signs include the failure of multiple organ systems and widespread, uncontrollable hemorrhage from multiple sites....

Your head is a perfect Lab vacuum.

Vitamins are necessary to proper health, and are seriously lacking in today’s diet, due to depleted soils and to GMO crops that cannot nourish the body properly.

I agree that IV would be better, but that would take a hospital visit and doctor’s order. In the meantime, it might be wise to have an alternative, when symptoms are mild (low fever before the vomiting & diarrhea) before going into the hospital with all the other infected patients.

Could Ebola patients be helped by Vitamin C?

It is sort of like flying in an upside down helicopter. Anything you try might be an improvement.

Maybe it’s just me but when I start to come down with a viral infection I run, not walk, to my bottle Vit-C+RoseHips and take 2000 MG, and then 1000 Mg every 4 hrs. I have not had flu or even a cold in I can’t remember when. It knocks a cold or virus before it can take hold. I also take Vit-D3.

Maybe your part liberal, I can only assume as much since you started your reply with a personal attack. My only point is that over the counter supplements are very expensive and you absorb very little. This in my book is a waste of money. Every legitimate study shows supplements are only effective if you have a deficiency and that can only be determined from lab work.

Go get some blood drawn. If your deficient your doctor will prescribe a pharmaceutical grade supplement. If your not deficient, then there is no need to. Any over the counter supplement with one exception that I know of are garbage and you are literally pissing your money away.

However, its a free country (somewhat and for a limited time) and if you think supplements will help your health by all means its your money, feel free to waste as much of it as wish on supplements. Keep in mind your body will expel most (%99) of what you take in, usually through your urine, from a supplement because it simply can’t absorb it all. Your better off eating a balanced diet with no refined sugars or manufactured foods or man made carbs.

Vitamins are necessary, the ones that come from whole foods. I suggest you look up the paleo diet.

I did not say vitamins are not necessary. I said supplementation is not necessary when you are not deficient. Very few Americans are deficient because no one in America is starving. Vegetarians are deficient because they are morons.

To the OP point.... massive doses of vitamins will not cure or aid in the cure of any disease. Overall health and well being and God’s will shall determine your outcome.

Liposomal Vitamin C.

Good stuff. Much higher absorption rate than regular oral vitamin c.

Easy to make at home using water, lecithin, and some form of quality vitamin c.
You will also need a small ultrasonic cleaning unit.

I made a batch just this afternoon using acerola cherry powder.

You make broad false generalizations, as all liberals are given to do.

Everyone in this country is deficient because our soils have been destroyed by improper agriculture. This is especially true in the states that irrigate heavily, throwing the mineral content of the soil far out of balance.

Pharmaceuticals are unnatural and completely destructive nonsense, that can have no useful purpose in nutrition, and have broad latent toxicity that will lead to early death.

Pharmaceuticals are the proximate cause of the growing cancer epidemic that grips this country.

Quality supplements are produced from natural substances, and do not lead to weakening of the body as all pharmaceuticals do.

No “balanced diet” is even possible when GMO crops replace real vegetables, and animals are improperly slaughtered by beating them over the head rather than cutting their throats ans allowing their hearts to pump the blood out.

No argument on sugar and carbs, but the grain heavy diet that most are pushing leads to a total shutdown of proper digestion.

Del-immune V works even better than vitamin C.

Its the stuff that saved Russia when Chernoble melted.

Its made from lysed lactobacillus bulgaris.

There’s one very excellent solution to the whole Ebola conundrum:

1. Bend over;
2. Place head between legs;
3. Kiss your *ss good-bye.

Vitamins and ‘home remedies’ won’t do jack sh*t.
