President of Liberia apologizes to Dallas mayor for Ebola landing in the U.S.

The President of Liberia apologized to the Mayor of Dallas, saying she felt 'responsibility' for Ebola spreading from Africa to the United States.

Ellen Johnson Sirlead, president of the nation hardest-hit by Ebola, called Mike Rawlings to express regret that the killer virus had crossed the Atlantic.

Thomas Eric Duncan, a Liberian citizen, brought Ebola to America in late September when he flew from the capital of Monrovia to Dallas.

He was taken in to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, where he died after infecting at least two nurses, who are being treated in secure facilities.

Rawlings revealed the exchange in a group call with faith leaders about the Ebola crisis, which was then reported by the Guardian.

Rex Howe, pastor for a Dallas church, spoke about the conversation. He said: 'The mayor said that there was a call to him personally, and that the Liberian president had mentioned apologies, and, in his words, a little bit of responsibility that this was even happening.'(continued)

Full title: President of Liberia apologizes to Dallas mayor for Ebola landing in the U.S. after first patient flew from disease-ravaged country and has infected at least two nurses

At least two nurses? What does London know that we don't?

Now Dallas should apologize to the rest of the country.

The British usually have inside info that we here don’t have..I wouldn’t be surprised if there are more nurses or more people infected with Ebola we just don’t know it..Obama knows if just one more person, just one more person gets Ebola that he is DONE, finito, finished..I had read online a few days ago that now the CDC uses code words for Ebola, instead of saying Ebola they have a secret code word so that no one will know what the person really has

We’re so sorry,
Mr. Rawlings.
We’re so sorry if we caused you any pain.

Now Dallas should apologize to the rest of the country.

That should go to pResident O'Bummer, who refuses to restrict flights from plague ravaged countries.... That, and also aggressively importing diseased ridden illegals across the southern border.

Liberia doesn’t owe us an apology. That is unless we’re depending on their health department to keep America safe from the disease.

...I guess maybe they do owe us, then, since the CDC seems to only have the election in mind.

I’m impressed with this apology. It shows moral character. Too bad the president of Mexico can’t be that humble as millions of his citizens reside illegally in the US and use our healthcare for free.

For what?

Ebola is a level 4 biohazard.

Virtually no civilian hospital in this country was trained or equipped to deal with a level 4 biohazard.

May Duncan rot in hell should either of these nurses perish

I’m impressed with this apology. It shows moral character.

If things are as presented, I agree.

I'm impressed with this apology. It shows moral character.

What moral character does a country have when it has done nothing to end the squalid conditions in which Ebola festered? There are people with the education and financial ability to leave, so why isn't their President instead mobilizing them to stay and help with the fight? Instead of asking the US and other countries to help train the healthy, this president sees nothing wrong with jeopardizing our troops.

Please explain how this excuse for a country shows any moral character at all.

Ohh...and this is the country founded by freed US slaves. How about calls from black racists in the US for a change to do something useful. Like mobilize and go to Africa to help their fellow descendants of slaves.

Don't wind me up.... <^..^>

You raise good points however Liberia was ready to charge Duncan with a crime had he survived and in this day a president of an African country apologizing is a huge deal.

Call me too cynical. This just sounds like another one paid off to deflect blame. These jokers can not accept responsibilty, in its truest sense. Which is why they will never learn to solve anything.
