Shocking Kansas GOP sweep shaping up for Sam Brownback, Pat Roberts
kansascity.com ^ | 10/17/14 | YAEL T. ABOUHALKAH

Just weeks ago, Democrats in Kansas were salivating over the possibility that Paul Davis would be the next governor in the state and independent Greg Orman would be a new U.S. senator.

Not any longer.

In fact, rather suddenly, Republicans are thinking they are going to have an enjoyable Nov. 4 night of watching election returns.

That’s because they now have growing reasons to think Gov. Sam Brownback is going to defeat Davis and win re-election. That would be unfortunate, given just how badly Brownback’s economic policies have hurt the state.

And they are giddy over the reversal in the Senate race, where incumbent Pat Roberts could slip by Orman. That, too, would be a near-disaster for Kansans, who would be plagued with the shrill, unproductive Roberts for six more years.

Why the big change?

▪ Polls explain much of the shift in optimism on behalf of Republican officials.

The most recent ones show both Brownback and Roberts gaining ground.

Roberts is no RINO, get a clue. I would have loved for him to have retired. He didn’t. Get over it and quit spouting nonsense. Unless, of course, you are from Democratic Underground in which case I wish you a most miserable Election Day. Cheers

The polls close in Kansas on Nov 4 at 7PM. I would like nothing more than at 7:01 to see Brian Williams sadly pronounce “NBC News projects both Sen. Roberts and Gov. Brownback will win re-election in Kansas” That would just drive the libs nuts.

I'm guessing that they won't make that projection until 99.9999999% of the vote is in even if Brownback and Roberts are each leading by double-digit margins.

This clown thinks Roberts is shrill? Actually in a race where Republicans will be handed an underserved landslide only because six years of Obamaunism has wrecked the country, it’s hard to figure who is sadder, the maudlin media or the GOP themselves.

I always figured the media was lying about Roberts and Brownback. It’s Kansas.

Well, it sure looks like it could be an Arabic last name (that doesn’t mean Muzzie) and he looks Arab to me.

“Yael” is Hebrew though, according to Behindthename.com, variant of the a biblical name, Jael. That would imply his parents were Christian.

The guy is clearly the #1 lib arsehole reporter in Kansas.

There are different websites that grade Senators which are all subjective. Nobody would seriously consider Roberts, the best-voting Senator from KS in 50 years, to be a RINO or grade a “D.” Want lousy ? Come to TN where we have two authentic RINOs, with the one up this year, Lamar!, generally ranked the 4th most left-wing Republican Senator. I’d swap him for Roberts in a heartbeat.

“Why don’t they hire Americans?”

I think he is American. I know he’s been in America at least for 40 some years now. He went to college in Kansas.

I just looked it up. He was born in Texas in 1955. Can’t get much more American than Texas.

Agree 100% that these ‘scorecards’ are subjective, based on who’s doing the scoring. I didn’t see the issues/votes that “Conservative Review” based its scoring on. Few of those ‘scorecards’ factor in the Members’ constituencies.

He was born in Texas in 1955. He graduated from University of Kansas in the 1970s.

He’s a flaming liberal, but he is an American citizen.
