Former President Bill Clinton to headline Grimes GOTV events in western Kentucky next week

Less than a week after his wife rallied thousands of Democrats in Louisville, former President Bill Clinton will campaign for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes in western Kentucky.

Clinton is scheduled to appear at get-out-the-vote events in Owensboro and Paducah Tuesday, Grimes’ campaign announced Friday. The Associated Press first reported Clinton’s stops next week.

“The Clintons’ commitment to Alison’s candidacy is a testament to what a strong, independent leader she will be in the U.S. Senate,” Grimes campaign manager Jonathan Hurst said in a statement. “Kentucky is Clinton country, and we are honored to have both Hillary and President Clinton here in the Commonwealth to campaign with Alison in the final days of an election that will significantly impact the future of our state and our nation.”

Tuesday will mark Clinton’s third visit to Kentucky on Grimes’ behalf. The former president stumped for Grimes in Lexington and Hazard in August, helping the candidate raise some $250,000 at a fundraiser in Lexington.

Grimes’ campaign recently used clips of Clinton’s speech in Hazard in a television ad.

Clinton’s wife, former U.S. Secretary of State and U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, spoke to about 4,500 at a rally in Louisville on Wednesday, hoping to boost Grimes’ appeal to voters with more than two weeks until the Nov. 4 midterm election against Republican U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell.

It seems like you seldom see Bill and Hillary together. Its as if they lead separate lives.

It sounds as though Mr. and Mrs. Slick Willie are trying to turn Grimes into a “rising star” Clintonista.

Has any politician ever benefited from a Bill Clinton appearance? They seem to all lose.

If the Grimes woman was leading the senate race i would be real concerned about the Republicans chances in this election. A lot of the other races are close and they shouldn’t be.

If I was Grimes I’d be aware of where Bill’s hands are at all times.

Ever notice how those two empty suits, Clinton and Obozo, always feign affability with those stupid grins pasted on their mugs? Shakespeare saw through this - Hamlet: “That one may smile, and smile, and be a villain . . .” God, what insufferable frauds.

His track record isn’t great.

I think he can count only one or two wins against a multitude of losses.

Actually, Grimes is Bill’s “hand”-picked candidate.

Kentucky Democrats were struggling find an opponent for McConnell after the Ashley Judd gambit imploded. Bill stepped in and convinced Allison to toss her hat into the ring.
