Thom Tillis hits Kay Hagan on Stimulus Grant
Politico ^ | October 17, 2014 | James Hohmann

North Carolina Republican Senate candidate Thom Tillis is launching a new television ad Friday suggesting his opponent personally profited from the 2009 stimulus law. The 30-second spot notes that Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan’s husband co-owns a company that received nearly $390,000 in federal grants for energy projects and tax credits created by the stimulus.

“She’s 96 percent for [Barack] Obama, 100 percent for herself,” says a narrator.

The ad will air statewide and comes as the National Republican Senatorial Committee is investing $6.5 million more in the Tar Heel State.

“Days after Kay Hagan took office, she pushed Obama’s stimulus bill,” the narrator says in the ad. “This bill will help this country move forward,” Hagan says in a clip.

“It didn’t, but it did help Kay Hagan move forward — personally,” the narrator goes on. “Grants, tucked away in Obama’s stimulus, paid the Hagans.”

The Tillis campaign says the company didn’t return $114,519 in unused stimulus money back to taxpayers, per the conservative website Journal.

Hagan’s campaign called the new ad desperate and false.

“Speaker Tillis and his allies are desperate to say or do anything that will keep the focus off of his failed record in the General Assembly that was devastating to education and our middle class families, so now they are resorting to false attacks on Kay’s family,” emailed spokeswoman Sadie Weiner.

The Federal Government is like a big buffet, and insiders are invited for the choicest dishes.

Next to Thad Cochran (MS) and Bruce Braley (IA), the sitting Senator I’d most want to see defeated is Kay “The Hag” Hagan. Can’t stand that b**ch.

OK, before the “hits” come. Let me correct my Post #6:

I know that Braley is NOT a sitting Senator, but he is a sitting Congress critter.

Porkulus and Obolacare are what caused the 2010 GOP wave. No harm in reminding voters. Tillis needs a game changer. This might do.

I’m sure the false narrative could EASILY be shown as such using some bill of receipt, cancelled check, etc.

I mean, they wouldn’t be fudging the books anywhere, right?
