Rep: CDC Worried Travel Ban Over Ebola Would Hurt African Economies
Fox News ^ | October 15, 2014 | Staff

A Republican lawmaker claims the real reason the Obama administration is opposing a travel ban for Ebola-stricken African countries is that U.S. officials are concerned about hurting their economies -- a dollars-and-cents reason, the lawmaker says, doesn't make much sense.

Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Pa., whose House subcommittee held a high-profile hearing Thursday on the Ebola virus, told Fox News that Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Tom Frieden is the one who gave him that explanation.

It’s called the Centers for Disease Control, and it’s purpose, as its name implies, is to control diseases! What a stupid reason, but, then again, we have the JV team in charge in DC. The desperation level must be escalating exponentially.

Send the CDC there and let them worry about another infected country on their own dime

Do they have much economy other than what we send them as aid?

Gee whiz, off hand, I can’t think of anyone I know who is planning to take a vacation in East Africa these days! Do you? Does anyone?

Raise your hand if you care about African Economies. They’re already being shored up by the rest of the world.

No, didn’t think so.

That’s another reason(probably real reason) why they do not want to stop the flights. They would have to seal the borders as well. That lunatic in the white house would rather kill us than stop the flow of illegals from coming over the border. Those two kids that died from the Enterovirus 68 are Obama’s fault. He has blood on his hands!

I saw another thread where they were selling dried monkeys in their market place.

That’s an “economy”...

The CDC should have zilch to do with the politics/economy of a foreign land. It’s not their job.

That as ridiculous as hollywood speaking out about politics, as if they have some superior opinion, what with being so much smarter than the rest of us.

It’s as crazy as NASA being tasked with promoting the contributions that muslims make to society....NOT a very big job, I might add.

It’s as crazy as armed forces being sent out to fight a virus.

CDC Worried Travel Ban Over Ebola Would Hurt African Economies
As ignorant a statement as the the fool who last week said we have to continue supporting Liberia because it was founded by former slaves in the 1830s.
Really? After 180 years of "freedom," the country's inhabitants STILL need whitey to take care them?
The fact that blacks in America are no better off than blacks in Liberia says a mouthful.

Who TF cares about marginal economies?

They should be more worried about the economies that run the world, with people who are incented and motivated to find ways to medically mitigate this disease and it’s ability to spread, as well maybe discover a cure.

Besides, those people have been around for thousands of years longer than the rest of us and they haven’t done squat to improve their people nor their conditions.

They are trying to come forward to the 21st century but, it seems grudgingly so.

OOps, I think I meant West Africa — oh well, I can’t think of anyone I know who wants take a vacation to any part of Africa, right now.

Now we are getting somewhere. It is about money, not disease prevention.

Ultimately the spread of the disease will harm all economies more than a downturn for Africa while the world helps it recover from ebola.

This is a red herring. Or squirrel if you prefer. Obama does not care about the African economies. It is his ideology.

If he agrees to a ban, the next step would be to secure the southern border which he refuses to do. He is rolling the dice with American lives that he can control this without a travel ban.

He has finally answered the question whether he is evil or stupid.

What do they think that widespread fear in the US about ebola will do the American economy?

I still have yet to hear an adequate explanation for the absence of any travel restrictions.

CDC = Center for Disease Control NOT Center for the African Economy.

Whatever the CDC and Obama reasoning, one can assume it was based on all the wrong inputs and probably a political decision rather than one based on facts and substance.

You have ONE JOB, CDC, and it isn’t to protect the African economy.

Tens of thousands of Americans go on vacations to Africa, usually no-hunt ‘safaris’. It’s a popular upper middle-class destination.

Those in charge here are not the JV team. They are the grammar school team. And even grammar school may be above their level.

They have an economy like Haiti, it consists of aid payments from other countries.
